My concern is that, while US tech is enjoys a substantial technological lead, in future it simply won't be enough to counter China's 5- 1 advantadge in PEOPLE - which seems to be getting closer to 6-1 than 4-1.

Think of it this way - five F-15's will pulverise a single F-22. The Chinese army cannot YET traverse the Taiwan straits without taking huge losses for Taiwan's air forces; but their own air force is expanding and modernising rapidly, and again - they'll very soon be able to throw far more air power at Taiwan, because of sheer numbers, than Taiwan can handle.

With the same growth rate - which is driven simply by China being able to AFFORD more hardware to arm more soldiers/sailors/airmen - it's only a matter of a decade - maybe two - until China can float more carriers in the Pacific than the US can. Not as advanced, thankfully, but still more sheer firepower, because of sheer numbers.

How long will the US's tech advantadge allow it to keep the OVERALL advantadge?

I see alot talk on blame i.e. Bush or Clinton. I think we were just caught with our pants down as a nation we are an arrogant people, caught up in our own little world of buying cars and homes, not even thinking of the violence and hatred around the world or believing no one would even dare do something like that, I mean hindsight is 20/20 and the sad part is it took a tragedy of this magnitude to open our eyes.

I asked this question yesterday and didn't get a reasonable answer.
The Sunni donminated Arab countries see Shiiti donimated Iran as a growing threat and destabilizing factor in the Middle-East. Saudi Arabia is pushing to restart talks with Israel that have been stalled for over 10 years. Many Arab nations and Isreal have agreed to start talking again through Condi Rice.
Is it possible that this Sunni/Shiiti conflict, which has brewed for a thousand years, hepl bring a settlement to the Arab/Israel conflict. Can this become a case of the enemy of my enemy becoming my friend?

My daugher was involved in a major auto accident on 5-25-03.
It was her vehical. First the other kids in the car told the Deputy she was driving. Later 2 of the other kids told her attny. that the other person in the car was the one driving. No charges were ever brought against him. My question is-who can we contact to have things investigated as to why. Our local Sherrifs Dept. really handled things all wrong. We were informed by them last week, that there was nothing they would do because time had run out on the statue of limitations. Is this true? We thought it was 7 years. Please any information would be great. Our daughters mental/physical health needs some closure.
Thanks

My wife works for a company that has a contract with one of the UK supermarket companies, which requires her to work in one of the supermarket's stores. She is employed solely by the contractor, not the supermarket. One of the supermarket employees, who has no direct supervision or any other working relationship with her, has put in a number of unfounded complaints about my wife's work to the store's management and

The contractors have no problem with my wife's work, she is regularly praised and they have told her that they do not want to lose her.

Unfortunately, things have got so bad that my wife had to walk out of her job yesterday. We have discussed filing a constructive dismissal claim against the supermarket but as she is not employed by them we don't think that they would do anything. My wife has escalated this to the contractor's owners and is awaiting a reply.

My question is - is there any clause in UK law that protects the right of contractors in this case?

I have to say I don't care much for his music or him himself, but my point is that he is American and as far as I am aware, Americans do not need a visa to enter the UK as long as they depart within 30 days of arrival...

Eleanor Roosevelt had to be the champion in the fight to make lynching a federal crime.

She was dismayed that FDR would NOT fight to stop lynching.

Eleanor made the fight against lynching one of her top priorities. She succeeded with little help from FDR.

Does this make Dems proud? Or do they try to forget the bad things of their "heros"?

Eleanor had to travel the country fighting for years in order to pass this law.

"In March 1936, Eleanor wrote a 'personal and confidential' letter to NAACP Executive Secretary Walter Francis White expressing dismay that the atrocity of lynching would not be addressed by the Congress or the president:"

Why has not one of the THOUSANDS of witnesses or conspirators needed to pull off the 9/11 attacks ever stepped forward in 6 years?

Are we to believe that in 6 years no one’s loyalty to the president has wavered enough or their guilty conscience has not forced them to confess or step forward?

They continue to bring up “proof” that proves nothing, and yet the one thing that would silence all neigh Sayers still eludes them or they ignore the fact none exist.

Can’t they just finally admit they are wrong, they have no proof and leave yahoo answers alone?

If Bush won't respond to Congress or the people, isn't he acting as if we are ruled by a monarchy? In a constitutional form of government, a president does not dictate. With 3 co equal branches of government, no one is bigger than the other two. I have never seen so isolated a president before.
Not even Carter or Nixon were this alone in the last years of their terms.

The days of Reagan were dark and produced the Dead Kennedy's greatest works, for example. Now, things are even worse, yet music has become rather apolitical.

The Iranians behave as if they are losing their (political) mind, threats, kidnapping of military men.
what makes them act that way? is their leadership acting upon some plan or are they acting up, as a show of beligerence, looking for trouble.
