I'm not sure which legislation you're asking about, but the one that offers citizenship has some pretty serious strings attached to it. It's also a pretty expensive prospect for the illegal alien who wants to become a citizen.

My grandparents all immigrated legally, and all became citizens. I would like to see anyone who wants to be a citizen have the same chance my grandparents had.

I don't think that trying to turn criminals into good citizens is likely to be a productive process for the United States, but I would point out that we have many World War II veterans in South Texas--including several Medal of Honor recipients--who came to the United States from Mexico to work in the fields and who joined the Army out of love for America and to find a path to citizenship.

I am proud to consider these men my fellow Americans.

Pure amnesty for illegal aliens is a bad idea, but anyone who wants to be an American and is willing to put forward the investment in self and effort to do that should have a chance.

Just my opinion.

Both are chasing the money and the vote. Since the huge majority of the illegal aliens are well under voting age, it seems to be a rather long range plan to change voting districts.
By changing the voting districts, making more ,they can change the balance of power .
Neither party has Americas best interest . They are totally out of touch with legal Americans views on the issues of amnesty. Both party's have no idea what a back lash they are creating.

The Dems want those votes!! They know that poorer people tend to vote for them because they are supposed to be the party of the poor.

In reality, the Dems are fools because when the people they give amnesty do become citizens and are eligible to vote, they then tend to make more money, which will lead them to become more aware of how people with a little money tend to be the ones who get jerked most. Afterwards, these same people will become more Rep in their thought processes, leading them to vote more on the Rep side.

How do I come to this conclusion you may ask? I am Black and not only have I subscribed to this, but I have heard of several other Blacks (and Latinos I might add) who have done so also.

The Republicans? They are trying to keep their constituents in the business sector happy by continuing to supply them with that cheap labor in which they thrive on. Yes, more Reps have come out decrying Dems for wanting to grant amnesty to all those here illegally, but hardliners out there like Reps. Tancredo, Bilbray, and Sensenbrenner aint having that!!

Both parties have financial support from business. Business wants cheap labor so they can make more profit. Business has a strong influence on congress. Congress does what they are ordered to do by business.
