These are the reason why I do not like the Pakistani government or its culture. They do not have freedom of speech, the concept of human rights is a joke, corruption is so deeply entrenched that government workers accept bribes out in the open, child brides are legal, rape victims must produce four witnesses and violence against women is legal. I could go on and on. Some people could argue that it is their culture and we must respect their culture. I agree to some extent and the US itself is filled with crime, racism and violence. The difference I want to point out is here in the US at least there is the chance of obtaining justice. Human rights are protected under law and an individual has the opportunity to bring his or her case to court. Lets put it this way who here would want to live in Pakistan, would want their children to be raised there, to have their sisters, mothers, daughters raised there? I say put your money where your mouth is.

I really don't know the numbers, but I remember the Gov. of Mississippi talking about how his state suffered equally, or almost as much .

Isn't that mess in New Orleans a Product of RAY NAGIN and Gov. BLANCO ? THEY actually argued about who did or did not have the authority to let the relief supplies come in !!!
But, I wouldn't lay all the blame on those 2 characters. . . . . the citizens should've evacuated .

So, who knows how bad Mississippi got hit ?

Traditionally one would collect signatures from people door to door and submit the petition formally. It also lessens the chance of fraudulent submitions. Why would our government accept a computer generated list of names with no proof of origination? Anyone can type a list of names.....I do not think it would be given a second look once it reached its destination.

I understand that this is highlyg variable depending on type of job, whether the individual was previously unemployed, the cost of creating the job etc etc, but I am just looking for a rounded figure which can be used in modelling, and which could be substituted for another number (one more contextually correct) should the need arise.

It seems like white (and other) liberals/democrats like to play race card all the time. They accuse people for being racists even when there is nothing to do with that. Does it actually backfires to people that they are trying to "Defend"?...

Like Playing race card in Stanley Tookie case, where there was obvious that he is a hard core criminal, deserving his punishment regardless of race.

Or defending illegal immigration, plaing "Latino" race card, when it has nothing th do with being latino, but with breaking the laws.

Or trying to give ex-felons right to vote, saying "It is a racial issue, since most felons are black and latino".

ok.. so I'm a Democrat and an Arkansan .. so I'm poking double fun at myself with this joke.. but I also believe you should be able to laugh at yourself.. so here you go, enjoy.

Last Tuesday, as President Bush got off the Helicopter in front of the
White House, he was carrying a baby piglet under each arm.

The squared away Marine guard snaps to attention, Salutes, and says:
"Nice pigs, sir."

The President replies "These are not pigs these Are authentic Arkansas
Razorback Hogs. I got one for Senator Hillary Clinton and I got one for
Speaker of The House Nancy Pelosi."

The squared away Marine again snaps to attention, Salutes, and says,

"Excellent trade, sir."

I saw a story about a guy that had a website where he will post racey pics of young teen girls in public without their or their parents knowledge.
What happens is he goes to like a public swimming pool in the summer. Then takes out a camera with a zoom lens, and starts taking pictures of girls in their swimsuits.
Morally I know this is plain wrong. I want to know if he is breaking any laws legally?
I always understood from news photography that any image shot in a public venue is technically "public domain". And can be used without prior consent.
Is this entirelly true? What say you?

Let's look at some facts.

This country has gone from a budget surplus to the BIGgest defecit in history.

Our manufactoring base is gone. All of these tax cuts don't keep businesses here, unless you count those businesses that hire undocumented workers and pay less than living wages.

Is anyone paying attention to New Orleans? My God we're about to lose an entire american city on Bush's clock, why doesn't he get more blame on this.

Erosion of Civil liberties ...

Why are we in Iraq exactly? I challange anyone to write a reason for being there and then explain why Iran, North Korea, Somalia, Cuba, or pick more countries don't qualify for our brand of nation building. WMD, murder of its citizens etc ... In other words we were lied to about the reason.

I could go on, but consider. If Bush we're inactive and hesitant or just ineffective (Carter) we would be in half the mess we are now.
Bush has "War on Terror" has recruited more people to that cause than Bin Laden ever could have.

Washington Post | Walter Pincus, R. Jeffrey Smith | February 9, 2007 10:02 AM

Intelligence provided by former undersecretary of defense Douglas J. Feith to buttress the White House case for invading Iraq included "reporting of dubious quality or reliability" that supported the political views of senior administration officials rather than the conclusions of the intelligence community, according to a report by the Pentagon's inspector general.

Feith's office "was predisposed to finding a significant relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda," according to portions of the report, released yesterday by Sen. Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.). The inspector general described Feith's activities as "an alternative intelligence assessment process."

I have written to the state, and I keep sending letters to the appeals department. I have complained to HR to no avail. I have even changed providers. The state says that the employer based insurance is protected under ERISA. I am having to constantly send letters and am behind months in my reimbursement. My son is chronically ill and this problem isn't going away.
