Those were the best years of the US: prosperity, peace, respect, surplus.

Totally opposite of what we have now.

In short, my answer would be no . . . good years, but no high point.

Clinton's faults confounded his talents and produced a record stained by too many missed opportunities and self-inflicted wounds (in which category the Monica Lewinsky affair would qualify as a shotgun to the head). His most positive legacy: an economic expansion that spread more benefits to more families than any since the 1960s. Lower- and middle-income families gained more ground under Clinton than under any president since Lyndon Johnson, and those gains were accelerated by government policies designed both to encourage and to reward work.

Some argue the end of World War II, some will say 1776. But as far as recent years, I would have to say the 80's were pretty good years. The Reagan years did more for the world than any others recently, yet some will disagree with this as well. Reagan was skeptical of federal government programs to remedy socioeconomic problems. He was an advocate of individual initiative, and Reagan’s approach to America’s economic problems was to lower taxes and limit government controls. You have to like that...do more for yourself, don't ask the government to do it for you.

The high point is in the future...when the wars are over, and everyone works together for the good of all mankind, and not for the good of themselves.

That's my view, ho about you?

Not even close!

How about the WW2 generation where the entire country pulled together to win a war? How about the post-Revolution nation building? How about the entire Industrial Revolution? How about post Civil War westward expansion and civilization? The Civil Rights Era of the 1960's?

Had I the time, I could think of at least a dozen prouder moments in American history.

Actually, I think it was during the Eisenhower administration that America was most respected by the world, real economic growth occured and individual property ownership began to become a reality for working families.

I greatly admired JFK and Reagan but, in the more than half a century that I have lived, I would have to vote for Dwight David Eisenhower's administration as our "high point".

Clinton years are on the last rung of the ladder. I don't think
being impeached will ever be a high point on any president's list of accomplishments.
People would prolly vote for Abe Lincoln or even Teddy Roosevelt but each administration has been fraught with different problems. As long as we believe in ourselves and our country it will be great.. when people try to harp on all the bad stuff and no good stuff we are burying our ourselves and our history.

The Reagan years were a high point. This country went downhill during the Clinton years.

When America healed its own split (Civil War -- Lincoln).

When America got through the Great Depression (FDR)

When America worked to fight global fascism (WWII -- FDR Truman).

When America perservered against communism (end of Cold War -- Reagan).

Clinton ranks way down the list.

Clinton did a good job - he continued almost all of Reagan's economic policies and furthered many of them, reforming welfare, cutting corporate taxes, deregulating the financial services industry and expanding free trade.

He was also helped by the Fed - we often remember the late 1990s as the whole decade, when in fact the Fed came off the brakes way too early in '97 and had to correct this in '99-'00, which led to the ensuing recession.

But all in all, he was pretty good.

Why YOU support this, I have NO idea....

Actually the Clinton years where a low point in this nation. Right down there with the carter years. We have been fortunate in this country to have mostly high points. We have been blessed, we truly have.
