The Irishness shows with this question, to be sure.
You were at Southampton when you broke the Law and became a criminal.
The BRITISH Police issued you with a fixed penalty and advised you to expect a Court appearance.
The British Court is BRITISH.
The Irish Court is Irish.
Follow me so far? good, I'll go nice and slow for you.
The Offence was committed on British soil.
The Irish Courts have no authority on British soil.
The British Courts HAVE authority on British soil.
Now it gets confusing.
You will be taken to a British Court for an offence committed on British soil. You WERE NOT IN EIRE.
I realise this is a difficult concept but try to understand.
Southampton = Britain NOT Eire.
Offence = Southampton NOT Eire.
Prosecution = Britain NOT EIRE.

You certainly can be prosecuted for a driving offence in the UK regardless of where you got your licence.
If you dodge your court appearance and run back to Ireland you will have another charge waiting for you if you come back.
Peopel who told you that there is no jursidiction in Eire are wrong. Remember that there is the European extradition system where any citizen can be extradited from and to any EU state without having a local court order. This has been known to be used for motoring offences.
In other words - you commited an offence, got a 'fair cop' and you can't wriggle out of it. It will be cheaper for you to pay the fine, smile and don't do it again.
Learn to spell - it's "licence", these details may help your case in court.

no they dont have juristiction in Eire but if you dont pay up they can put an entry on the PNC for contact to made if vehicle seen.(EVEN IF IT IS NONE UK. REG.PLATE)they could then present summons and if you dont turn up they will get a warrant so you could be bringing problems down on yourself if you plan to visit uk again

yes you may convicted anywhere .....when in Rome? .......do as the Roman do :old saying ;meaning :wherever you are you have to obey the law , you may be a citizen of an other country ? but the law is the law ........
if this was not true ? you could go commit a crime anywhere in the world and get away with it ? i surely would hope not ;this would be too easy ...
it started a long time ago with Interpol :Interpol is the world’s largest international police organization, with 186 member countries. It exists to help create a safer world by supporting law enforcement agencies worldwide to combat crime.
Interpol has three core functions, which provide:
Secure global police communications
Data services and databases for police
Operational Police Support Services
act as a decent citizen and obey the law ,even if you do not wish and think you have to do so .......sooner than later ? you will pay for your crime ..:-)

I think unfortunatly for you the EU laws will cover this, as the offence was committed within the EU and you possess an EU driving licence the ban is valid. Seek legal advice to make sure on this.

yes you can
even if you are not living in the uk if you dont pay up next time you go over there you can be arrested & thrown in jail.
they dont really have jurisdiction in eire but if you dont pay up you may never be able to visit the uk again without fear of being arrested
