Here's the source where she was offered the same plane

Because she can't take her family and friends with her... Now she says she doesn't want to stop to refuel for security reasons....Now shes made the mistake of saying she has NO problem with flying commercial as long as the flight is direct. Well, there are planes that leave Dullis Airport with no stops ..Maybe she should use that airport instead of Reagan Inter. Of course her buddy Murtha is helping her out now , he is dropping dark hints that funding for the Pentagon may suffer if they don't cave and hand Nancy her 757! Can you believe this? We have a Democrat congressman ... a congressman that was being considered for the position of House Majority Leader ... virtually threatening the our military with a loss of funding if they don't give his benefactor, Nancy Pelosi, a nice plush 757 to fly back and forth from DC to San Francisco!
Why is the media NOT jumping all over this.......

It's hypocritical isn't it? She says she wants to do what's best for the environment but then wants a plane that weighs four times more than the gulfstream to fly her butt around. I wonder why she can't use a Gulfstream V?
From Wikipedia “The Gulfstream V (also referred to as the G5) originally flew in 1995, was certified in 1997, and was one of the first "ultra-long range" (~6000 nautical miles) business aircraft. Capable of carrying up to 16 people in standard seating configurations, and able to fly up to 6,500 nautical miles (12,038 km), the GV became the longest range business jet ever made at the time of its introduction.”
By the way a nautical mile is 1-1/5 miles so 6500 nautical miles equals 5200 miles. S.F to D.C is 2800 miles, so what's the problem?
Its maximum speed is 600 mph. It's faster and more efficient than the 757. It only weighs in at 65,000 lbs. The 757 weighs 255,000 lbs. Talk about SUVs burning up the fuel...! Hellllo Ms. Pelosi!!!

A smaller plane doesn't have a big enough tank.
And it is a jet, just a bigger one to accommodate the farther trip she has to make.
You did make me smile though, I had a visual image of this little jet, dragging a huge fuel tank behind it like a huge person walking a chihuahua on a leash.
The defense department has already said they will give her whatever plane is available, not assign her one, with or without an entertainment area. You might in fact want to ask why a military plane would need all those bells and whistles at all.

Speaker Pelosi did not request the plane others requested it for her. The title she has gives her the right to have what she needs to do the job. For security reasons the PENTAGON insisted that she use one of their planes and offered her the same one that Hastert used to shuttle to and from Illinois. Since Speaker Pelosi must travel about 2 thousand miles further they want her to have a non-stop security all wired up plane etc.
I think it is funny that even the Adminstration has no issue with her having the bigger plane (She is right behind Cheney in accession to the Presidency) but there will all those jealous jesse's that will whine and carp over the least little thing. So when they whine and carp I laugh at how silly they are.

not that facts will matter in this braindead conversation but it should be known that pelosi was not involved in the decision of which jet should fly her around - this was between the seargant at arms in the house and various security departments.
pelosi has stated numerous times that she would be just as happy flying commerically.
it should also be known that the white house completely supports pelosi using the jet that was authorized.
but as long as we're all so concerned with money all of a sudden, i don't think that anyone would disagree that it's time to stop wasting billions and billions in iraq.
or is your concern about finance morally selective...

She wants hers to be bigger and longer than Bush.
Sounds strange!!!!!!!!!!
Just a few quick points to the ignorant out there.....
#1. The 757 was recommended because she demanded transportation and sleeping quarters for 40 people. (way over board on that number)
#2. She can have a smaller jet that fits 14 people and will go coast to coast. (thats bigger than the one Hastert had).
#3. This will be on the defense budget, not the speakers budget.
#4. The big jet will cost $300,000 each way. The small one will cost $30,000 each way.
#5. Can we say Queen P?

She only asked to have a non-stop flight from DC to Cali. She offered to fly commercial, but due to the government rules for safety, they want her to use a government plane. But the only ones that can make the trip non-stop are bigger ones. So to answer your question, they don't have a smaller plane capable of reaching Cali non-stop.

Talk to the person in charge of defense. It was his idea, not Pelosi's. I'm a Conservative, but this was truly nonsense for this to become a big debate.
