I've never been to the academy, and I'm starting my police cadet position in 2 weeks. I'm 23 and I'm a very girlie femine girl.

I don't want to stand out (in a bad way) and have the other officers talk about me and say how un-coplike I am! I'm sure they dont expect me to be exactly like them, since I dont have the training, but I still gotta fit in.

Is there anything I should make sure to do/not do??? say/not say??? I don't even know how to stand or sit in my uniform without looking all girlie!!! And I dont want the other female officers to look down on me!!!

Please help with any advice you can offer!!!

Given the utterly appauling cash crisis faced by the NHS, how most information from Government about the NHS seems to be hidden from the public and that hundreds of thousands of Dr's, Nurses etc are leaving their jobs because they have absolutely had enough of the stress, lack of funds, rubbish pay and poor treatment by Government lacky managers. Is not time the public called for the sacking (not resignation) of Patricia Hewitt?
She is killing our NHS with a good bit of help form Tony Blair! It infuriates me!! We so need this Government gone!

Not to try and control your answers (I hate that) but I am just curious, and am not interested in insults toward others about their choice of political information sources. Thank you!

Guess I should state what I watch and read to start things off:
TV:
Tucker, Hardball and Countdown w/Keith Olbermann
C-Span when I have the patience or something of import is being discussed
UN World Chronicle
I check out O'Reilly and Hannity from time to time to see what the right is talking about.

Internet:
Snopes and Smoking Gun to check out rumors
Washington Post, NY Times

Reading:
Time, Newsweek and US & World Report

"I'm the decision-maker"
"I've picked the plan that I think is most likely to succeed"
I think Mr.Bush still thinks he's dealing with his former republicans that were in the house and senate, but times have changed. His previous "plans" have failed so what makes him think this one will work? He said himself we need a new direction in Iraq, and yet he continues to try and send more troops in. I am not affiliated to any party so for those of you who say I'm either right or left, your comments have no ground here. Last time I checked Congress was the ones to approve pretty much anything the Presidents tried to throw on the table. So for him to say that He's the decision maker, makes him sound like more of a dictator than a President of the USA. Let me know what you guys think.

Just received a response to an answer I gave on another question, and it made me have to ask the question above. Are we stoned, stupid, or just plain ignorant to the extreme damage being done by Georgie and Co. ? Are we really so stupid as to equate American citizenship, with some sort of genetic predisposition for right action? The German people were very patriotic, very proud of their heritage, and it would seem that Adolf Hitler took advantage of that ignorant perspective Big Time!!! If we think it is impossible for an American dictator to come into power, then we are already doomed to experience just that. Under the auspices of FEMA ( penned and made law by Georgie's very own Daddy ) In the event that a disaster, natural or manmade, occurs which leaves 100,000 or more people dead, than the president can declare martial law, shut down the government, and for all intents and purposes be king of America. Who decides when it's over? Oh, yeah, that would be Georgie himself.

The American public is asleep to this key piece of the coming " North American Union ".

Just check out the following websites to see the magnitude of NAFTA Super Hightway planning thats been going on without any congressional legislation directly authorizing the construction of the international Super Hightway through the center of the country .
North American SuperCorridor Coalition Inc. ,
Kansas City SmartPort Inc. ,
the Dept of Commercr an SPP office and The Texas Dept ofTrans .
The details of the NAFTA Super Hightway are hidden in plan view and still Bush has not given speeches to bring this issue to the attention of the American People .

A good reson Bush does not want to secture the border with Mexico ,
So wake up America , before It's to late . to stop this . Call your Congressperson and ask them about it and what are they doing to stop it ?

penalty. Something that I would only expect from backwards and barbaric countries. It does not put people off commiting crimes as America has more people in prison than the UK per thousand of population. There is even an Scotsman with a rather dubious conviction which was quashed then reinstated., so how about Americans what you gonna do about it?

I don't. I believe 9/11 was caused by bad homeland security and imperialistic foreign policy in the Middle East. Improve security, fix the policy, and you will reduce the terrorist threat...no war required!!!

If you think GW Bush is a terrible president, please answer these questions. (I doubt if anyone will actually answer them, I'll probably just get a bunch of meaningless ranting, so try to surprise me).

1) Have we been attacked since 9/11?
2) Are taxes low?
3) Is unemployment high?
4) Are interest rates high?

for the health of everyone who patronizes these places, but then say that government is "going too far" if it passes an ordinance that says one cannot smoke in an automobile if there is a child present, or in a home where children live...It seems to me MUCH more important that the latter locations be smoke-free!

And furthermore, how can you expect it to succeed? As long as the abstract concept exists there will be no way to "win" the war because the concept will go on indefinitely.

Many democratic nations around the world have a head of government and a SEPERATE head of state. In the United States we have combined these two very important posts into one office. This means that one man is not only responsible for running this entire country and crafting excellent domestic policy, but is also responsible for the ceremonial and diplomatic durites of a head of state. The time that the President spends on his many ceremonial duties takes away both time and energy that could be better spent actually running his country. We are not getting the most out of our Presidents because of this. So what do you think? Would we be better off if we split these two positions into seperate offices like other countries have? Should we have one man who focuses all of his precious time and energy on the policy of this country, while another person who is completely powerless fulfills the ceremonial head of state functions?

I am moving to Guam my husband got military orders there. I have a little girl from a previous relationship that never resulted in marriage. She has lived with me since day one and continues to do so. There is no custody order in place, i assume That I have full custody and that her father would have to go and astablish custody. He does not spend much time with her and he can see her when ever he wants, he only does so when it is convient for him, or if his family wants to see her. I do not feel that she would be taken care of if i sent her to him in the summer. Do I have to? He has signed for her passport and he know that we are leaving is there anything that i have to do so that he can not get me for kidnapping? He wants to clam her every other year on taxes but what he pays in child support is not half of what we pay to support her will he ba able to claim her?
