President Ford died well over 30 days ago, yet all of the flags in town are still at half mast. Did someone else die that I missed?

My husband and I live in France but we have decided to move to United States. We had all the papers ready for the US Embassy and yet just now when I checked their site I saw the following announcement: "EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY consular officers at the United States Embassy in Paris can no longer accept I-130 petitions for family-based immigration to the United States. All I-130 petitions must be filed with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in the United States." They gave a link which apparently has information on where to file the I-130 form, but the link says that if you live abroad you should file at the US embassy or consulate. We are going to go to Paris anyway to ask them the same question, but does anyone know if I'll have to move to US before I can file a petition for him? I hope it's not true, because of immigration issues we were forced to have a long distance relationship for 2 years, and we really don't want to repeat the experience!

We have the best doctors in the world.
The best universities in the world.
We have billions of dollars and the most skilled researchers.

Yet we'd rather dispose embryos that were not used in an "in vitro" fertilization. Instead of donating them to research with the proper authorization from the donor. Such research could in the future save your parent's life or even your own...

How can you oppose that?

Why do people like to leave details out. Are they hoping we can not read. Of the 761 arrested all are hard core criminals. They had no intention of coming to work like most illegals. They are deporting hard core criminals that are in prison.

My 1st Sgt. asked our platoon to find out what the individual colors in the windows of the castle mean. I always thought that they were blacked out. I have never seen one with differant colors! Does anyone know? Not even the other NCO's in our unit can figure this one out!

We all know the theory - we've increased the atmospheric CO2 levels by 30% of the immediately prior CO2 level (or, 1/11,000th of the atmosphere, though the AGW advocates don't put it in that context), CO2 traps heat, and starting about 80 years after we started to increase the CO2 level, the planet started warming, and has since warmed 1.1 degree F.

But it's also true that the present climate shift is similar in rate and extent to all the other ones, that the climate history is a sequence of intermittent multi-century warm and cool periods, and that we were coming out of a 400+ year cool period when the present warm period began. It's also true that during many warmer periods, CO2 levels were lower than today. CO2 is one of the weaker 'greenhouse' gases and its effects are dwarfed by water vapor, the level of which has almost nothing to do with us.

Stratospheric cooling is consistent with the CO2 blanket theory but has been going on for only about 20 years, not 120.

Assuming that it is just impossible to overnight change the system, it is very essential that we should begin somewhere. The first five things we think of should keep the ball rolling.

Okay, so maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but I'm rather shocked by all the news I'm hearing since he put out his book supporting the Palestinian cause.

1. Personally lobbied for the re-entry of a Nazi SS officer into the US after being deported for concealing his Nazi ties.

2. When overseeing the establishment of a council to memorialize the holocaust, he said there were "too many Jews" in the council. Also, his people apparently denied acceptance into the board for one Presbyterian Holocaust historian because his name sounded too Jewish.

3. He wrote and published a book opposing an ally of the United States (Israel), and bolstered a group that supports terrorists and terrorism in the Middle East.

My impression of President Carter prior to this book release was generally more of a well-meaning but incompetent administration, so did anyone else know about this stuff?
