Not sure, but too much in New Orleans. What about the other states and cities. Mississippi was hit really bad! Did we hear them complain? NO! They accepted what MOTHER NATURE has put upon them and got off their butts to rebuild. I understand that new orleans was under water, but if we fail to do what we need to do to protect us in our daily lives, it's our fault, not the government. Yes, the government offers help in many ways, but to depend on that soley is completely greedy and lazy. We donated HUNDREDS of dollars and donated to a local water facility and they donated THOUSANDS of water bottles to New Orleans. On national television one man and a woman complained about money. He said that they ALL SHOULD get $20,000 and also blurting out the "f" word on live tv. What about a freaking thank you my fellow Americans for digging into your pockets and donating YOUR hard earned money to us? Oh no! I did not hear complaints from mississippi like I did in New Orleans. Instead of people rallying around and helping each other out like in mississippi, they DEMANDED whatever from the government and from us. I'm so sick of people defending New Orleans when it comes to katrina, other states and cities were badly affected by this and sadly, not enough money went to them. So New Orleaners, stop and think of where the rest of America is coming from. Don't be so selfish to judge us AFTER ALL AMERICA DID FOR ALL OF YOU!! I have a few family members down in Louisiana and some of the katrina victims are now spread out in other cities and their attitude toward other people is horrendous.

Anyway, unfortunately not enough money went to the other cities and states other than new orleans.

too much. according to global warming scientists the oceans will rise by thirty feet in the next 10-15 years. The city of NO was already below sea level by 14 feet. Sounds like we are throwing money at a bad idea.

okay all the other answers have made me angry if you go to new orleans and lok around you'll see (i don't mean the quarter either) go all over and you'll see what is left to do which is so much it looks like they maybe pitched in a couple hundred bucks if there going to send 10 billion to bagdad you think maybe they could do better for new orleans but no it's up to us my step kids live threr and we have gone to no at least 30 times sence than to help we just drive around till we find people that need help and than oh my god we get out of the car and help we have put in hundreds of hours all over and used our own money to boot so all the people who say too much have no idea what there talking about and 1 more thing it is mainly the insurance companies that most of these people still have nothing my step son has owned his house for 10 years never once was any of his insurance payments late but we are still waiting for his check ,he also had a seprate policy for flood insurance so where is that check also i have no idea i have no trust any more in our government they suck sweaty balls and so do all these answers that think that n.o is just fine i hope they never suffer from a huge natural disaster and than try to get their insurance money from a company that is not gonna give them the time of day ,natural disasters can happen anywhere and anytime but i will guarnttee that no matter where and when their policies that they depend on just might not be there for them like they think it will be.....
