The difference is whether not they're fighting on your side. Remember that really cool movie from the 80s called "Red Dawn"? Well, from the American point of view, Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen and friends were freedom fighters. But I'm sure the Russians and Cubans saw them as terrorists.

Tactics the terrorist will hit there enemies by destroying the enemy from living a normal life by killing civilians randomly. Thus disrupting the normal flow of life and commerce in the target country. The Freedom fighter will usually hit only the military targets in his country as the freedom fighter is a defender of his country from invaders or tyrannical dictators. He does get confused with terrorist from time to time as the freedom fighter sometimes kills collaborators and this is seen as terrorism by the invaders or corrupt govt.

Tough question. It would seem that they are one in the same depending on who's side of the battle you are on. One countries freedom fighter is anothers terrorist.

Dumb question. the express purpose of a terrorist is to terrorize. A freedom fighter, or revolutionary is is an individual fighting the government that governs him/her fo the sake of revolution. A terrorist is indescriminant of who or what he attacks so long as his goal is met. A revolutionary generally is more selective and attacks military or government targets.
Example:
The Revolutionary War, Colonials attack British supply wagon. kill 6 British soldiers
The Iraq War, Terrorists detonate a car bomb in bagdad. killing 6 civilians

Terrorists incite terror, killing whomever/whatever gets in the way. Freedom fighters target their actions, and aregenerally more cautious.
Or, they're terrorists if we don't like them, and freedomfighters if we do.

A masked coward who cuts your head off with a dirty knife. All while chanting to his God, is a terrorist. The person that blows said masked coward to hell where he belongs is the freedom fighter.
