Perhaps you can go to a market in bagdad or pakistan with your family and discover why. You may see first hand as the guy with the bomb strapped to his body looks at you and your children and smiles and utters how glorious alla is as he detonates his package.

Buses, market places and restaurants are prime targets for these people who specifically target women, and children. I think when you target military locations it is a little harder to get close to, hence you need more sophisticated means. I hope this clears this up a little better for you. Really though, take that trip there is nothing like experience.

Well three things that I can think of:

1. The smart flying bomb is probably smarter then most of the humans that strap the other bombs on and kill innocent people.

2. The smart bomb costs alot more then the suicide bomber

3. Humans can't fly

multi-million dollar flying bomb is guided to the target. Suicide bomber just wants to kill as many people as possible regardless of whom it may be.

Suicide bombers like Japanese Kamikaze show a complete and utter contempt for the value of a human life. It is the ultimate expression of failure.

simple, INTENT. What is the intent of a suicide bomber? presumably, to kill people for the express purpose of terrorising a population. The "smart bombs" we use are for the intent of hitting a military target. the reason they are "smart" is to maximize damage to the military target and minimize collateral damage. It is money well spent, considering the alternative of "dumb" carpet bombing that would result in thousands of civillian casualties.

The smart bomb is designed to minimize civilian casualties while the one strapped to a human is designed to maximize civilian casualties.

DannyK is right. Yes, some innocents get killed when America sends in one of our high-tech bombs but, that's because you people live happily among your terrorist neighbors. GET OUT OF THE WAY!!

Other than the suicide aspect of it, the main diffrence is choice of targets.

Suicide bombers go for civilian targets.
Our bombs, though they do take some civilian lives are targeted at military targets.

Because it is intended to kill terrorists and not specifically aimed at women and children.

Targeting an insurgent training camp or walking into a marketplace or mosque full of innocents..................

Seems like a no brainer to me.
