Just received a response to an answer I gave on another question, and it made me have to ask the question above. Are we stoned, stupid, or just plain ignorant to the extreme damage being done by Georgie and Co. ? Are we really so stupid as to equate American citizenship, with some sort of genetic predisposition for right action? The German people were very patriotic, very proud of their heritage, and it would seem that Adolf Hitler took advantage of that ignorant perspective Big Time!!! If we think it is impossible for an American dictator to come into power, then we are already doomed to experience just that. Under the auspices of FEMA ( penned and made law by Georgie's very own Daddy ) In the event that a disaster, natural or manmade, occurs which leaves 100,000 or more people dead, than the president can declare martial law, shut down the government, and for all intents and purposes be king of America. Who decides when it's over? Oh, yeah, that would be Georgie himself.

I concur! And to add to Bush Sr. penning FEMA's abilities over the states....Jimmy Carter consolidated FEMA's power opening the door for the Bush regime to declare themselves rulers over the states.

Martial law (John Warner Defense Act of 2006), National ID Act of 2005, invasion of our privacies (a.k.a Patriot Acts 1&2 which can also declare any one of us a terrorist), a 70 TRILLION dollar debt, cheney and halliburton, the North American Union/Amero, back door agreements with Mexico to undermine our borders and agents, etc., etc, etc, are all areas, and then some, these damn yahoos show their conspicuous ignorance!

Based on the majority of the answers I see here regularly, it is obvious that these people have no idea that we have taken most of Hitlers ideas, and subtlety implemented them through the use of modern times. Little do they know that we took half of Germany's scientists (Russia took the other half) and continued on with their ideologies making us who we are today as a nation! Psychological warfare is a term that 90% of them have never heard of.

Hey! mattinhouston with the "tinfoil hat"! You ignoramus! Read the John W. Warner Defense Act of 2006, and maybe then you will learn something about martial law and when/where it will take effect! Where have you been? Planted in front of the television like a drone?! Get your times/facts straight before you spout off!

Being a Canadian, I don't know too much about the specifics of this, but here's my response to the original question:

I am a Canadian. I know this without looking it up:

1.George Washington was the first president.
2.Independence Day is celebrated July 4th
3.The USA has 50 states
4.The closest state to my province is Montana.
5.Abraham Lincoln was the president during the American Civil 6.War
7.Washington is completely different from Washington DC. 8.Washington DC is the capital of the US
9.New York City is divided into Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, and maybe some others
10.the Golden Gate Bridge is in San Fransisco
11.AND - the USA declared war on Canada once in 1812. We subsequently fought back to DC and burned down the White House. Long time ago but it still makes me smile. No offence.

Now I'd be interested to see how much the average American knows about Canada. Unfortunately, from what I've heard, Canadian tourists seem to quite often run into people who have difficulty comprehending that most of the population does not live in igloos. Personally, I would say Americans are a little too proud, if you know what i mean. Too proud about what they do at home, and not enough about their international image, etc.

Can any Americans here name 4 Canadian provinces right now? I'll do the same for the US: Alaska, Montana, Oregon, Washington, New York, Alabama, North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Illinois, Texas. That's 10 of 50 states that i know.

In my opinion a lot of it is on education. It focuses a little too much on dates and events and the good things the nation has done rather than a more international viewpoint.

As for the dictatorship bit, If the US government wanted a huge disaster out of 9/11 as some people seem to be thinking, they would not have just used simple planes. They would probably have used a nuke. But they didn't, so i doubt very much that Dubya is purposefully trying to set up a dictatorship. As for taking advantage of a disaster and becoming "king", the American people and armed forces are too smart to support him forever.

There are 2 big differences between us and Germany in the '30s that you are ignoring. First, we have a free media. This means that we get the truth about what is going on with our elected leaders. Second, we are an armed population. There are about 80 million gun owners in America. By keeping our first and second amendments we can prevent a hostile take over, or correct one if it does happen.

Our founding fathers really did know what they were doing. And as bad as things may get, they left us a system that allows us to fix it. We are not like any other country in the history of the world, so your comparisons are invalid.

Here's a huge difference. The German economy prior to Hitler taking power sucked, big time. You can't say the same for us.

If the so called FEMA thing is a law, wouldn't that mean Congress made it and Bush, Sr. put it into effect?

Using the 'Hitler' example will garner no support from any logical thinker . Hitler conquered, and then conquered some more . Not only taking the spoils of his victories, but taking the entire COUNTRY . Then there's also that thing called the 'Holocaust', my guess is you've at least heard of it . The desire to wipe-out entire ethnicities and anyone else he didn't like .

Now President Bush . Conquer ? Conquer ? Spoils ? Holocaust ?
None of your points hold water !! Perhaps you did have a smidgen of a point to start with, but you negated that point by foolishly allowing your inner hatred in comparing any President to Hitler .

It's so good to see someone with a wise head on their shoulders. I guess no one has heard of the Shadow government? Where do you think Cheney was when 9-11 started???? Yep, they are just waiting till we have a big enough natural disaster. Guess not enough people died as they thought would on 9-11.

"You can fool some of the people all of the time. They are the ones we want to concentrate on." GW Bush, March 2001

As of today, only 28% of Americans are still stupid enough to believe anything Bush says or trust him in any way, shape or form. So Americans aren't really stupid, they're just very, very, slow learners.
