Everyone knows Geroge W. Bush can spawn hurricanes but I want to know which company made the hurricane machine. My other liberal friends say it is Haliburton but I don't know.

My partner has just been told by her employer that she will be laid off in 90 days. She has worked for this company for 5 years. Over the last 2 years they have stopped employing local people in favour of Polish workers who will work for the agency for less money. One of the directors of this company is also a partner in the employment agency. They have been told that they could be laid off and these " tempory " staff may not. Is this legal to lay off full time employee`s in favour of temps???

Singers beat up for singing National Anthem!

NEW YORK (AFP) - Members of a close-harmony group from Yale University are recovering after being ambushed and beaten up while on tour in California.

Members of the a cappella Baker's Dozen were performing at a party in San Francisco at the new year when their rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" apparently sparked taunts and threats from fellow partygoers.

As the group left the house, they were attacked by dozens of assailants, suffering scrapes, black eyes and concussions, said Connecticut's News Channel 8.

"Besides any bruising or scrapes to the face, the main injury I suffered was I broke my jaw in two places," one of the singers, 18-year-old Sharyar Aziz, was quoted as saying.

I've noticed that there are more Conservatives on the computer in the morning. Is this because more Conservatives are at work in the morning and more liberals are at home sleeping in from a late night waiting tables or bartending? Just curious.

Iraq is now such a mess. Since American people have made two consequtive brilliant choices to elect Bush, should we elect him to become the next President of Iraq after his term is done, and see if he could do a better job than Hussein? Just to give him another chance....

Viewing Nancy Pelosi's voting record and her status now do you think she is a potential threat to Hilary Clinton's bid for president? She has come a long way and tends to flip-flop on the issues enough to seem a moderate liberal to the untrained observer.

Can a recruiter offer and put in writing your first duty station for after AIT? I know there would have to be an opening or slot for my MOS at the location, and the Army could change its mind by the time I finished AIT. Just want to know if I can expect to be able to choose when I sign the contract.

I am a conservative but am anti-war. I don't think the war in Iraq is the best way to deal with Jihad.

I do believe that the White House thought they were doing the right thing at the time but they proved to be amazingly incompetent for not realizing that they were stepping into a Sunni-Shiite conflict.

The war in Iraq will never succeed because of Islam. The "religion" is a political ideology. Sunni and Shiites hate each other more than they hate Westerners.

But, do liberals worry about Jihad? I'm afraid they are against the war because it was started by Bush & Co. but think the neo-conservatives created the Jihadist Myth.

Jihad is alive and real and has been fighting against the West for 1,400 years since Islam was founded.

Liberals... what do you think of Jihad? Should we let a pan-Arab war break out? Should we stop Muslim immigration to USA?

(I know you hate Bush. I know you're against the war. Just let me know what you think about Jihad.)

just an example:

CHEAP LABOR?

Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage

Consumers don't want expensive produce

Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs

But the bottom line is cheap labor
The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie
~ there is no such thing as "cheap labor."

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children.

He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour.

At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax,
yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return,
he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent

He qualifies for food stamps

He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay)
health care

His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school

He requires bilingual teachers and books

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills

If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled,
they qualify for SSI.

Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare.

All of this is at the taxpayer's expense.

He doesn't worry about car insurance, life
insurance, or homeowners insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins
and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to
$30.00/hour in benefits.

Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour
Left after paying their bills and his.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime,
graffiti and trash clean-up.

My employer doesn't pay for minutes...so if I was only scheduled till 10 and I'm there working and closing till 10:15 he will only pay me till 10. I thought it was illegal to do that, I thought that you have to get paid for every minute you're punched in. Am I right or wrong? Does it matter if it's a family owned business?

I'm almost 20 and I work full-time and am considering enlisting. I heard you can defer basic training for up to one year through DEP, but I thought that was just for like seniors in high school. Can I still have mine delayed for a whole year (for personal reasons) or will they only give it to me for a really good reason, like I was in college or something?
