What I find is that many people who get violated believe they are innocent, but more often than not they are attack artists. They use terms like Repuglican, Libtard and other slanders repeatedly. While they may have valid points to make which could stand on their own merit they instead choose to denigrate rather than educate. It is still free speech even when disrespectful. The law has to respect your right to free speech, individuals do not, even though they should. I know it is a fact that many choose to appoint themselves censors for all content they disagree with. However, I disagree with people all the time and there are many people who don't agree with me, but I do not get constantly violated. I do believe this is because I try to be fair in my criticisms and avoid the useless name calling. I almost never violate anyone and if I chose to violate every dissenting opinion I wouldn't have time for anything else.

It's getting scary. We all uphold the Constitution and brag about how we have freedom of speech, yet when we use it to speak out against the president, suddenly we're unAmerican! Some people need to learn that we have the right to speak the truth as we see it,not just as they see it.

I work at a university, and, ironically enough, I do not feel free to speak my mind. I am a conservative surrounded by liberals - some sane, many not so sane. The sane ones are fine - we agree to disagree - the nuts.....well, I just bite my tongue a lot. It's not worth speaking my mind only to have some freak start screaming in my face about how stupid and wrong my opinions are.

The funniest part of it all is that I work for a political science department...if anyone should be a political snob, it's someone who actually gets paid to study politics. However, the PS faculty are by far the most tolerant to another point of view....and the Education profs are probably the least tolerant.

You need to be careful how you word your speech so that it doesn't get a violation.

If you really want to lay it all out there, get an alternative identity with a different email address, so that you don't lose your email and everything else if you get kicked off Y!A.

Everyone should have a right to voice their opinion, whether conservative, liberal or otherwise. I would not jump on someone elses comments because they do not jive with mine, we can just choose to disagree. Anyone who does differently is totally out of line. If we were discussing the war, I would have to say that it was an utter mistake and tragedy, but hey, you're free to disagree. Variety is the spice of life.

I am all for freedom of speech....but I also think that it has to be done in a tactful manor. Protest at funerals....NO WAY. There are some things that just don't need to happen......Every person has a right to say what they think and feel....but there are right ways and wrong ways to do it.....be tactful about it.

Its further proof the liberals want to silence opposing views. Just look at how they protest and heckle any conservative or Republican who is about to speak. Its no different on here, where they report the moment they see an opposing view. They see dissent as a violation, just like the communists in the USSR threw opponents in the gulags

You do not have the freedom to criticize either here or in society in general. (unless it is something obvious like you are against child molestation- duh) If you do you will get jumped all over with things like 'who are you to judge?', 'taste is relative', 'you got problems' and the usual cliches. A lot of people cannot provide their own arguments so they just attack the arguer.

Well, I just posted a video of Bush reading "My Pet Goat" a few minutes ago and it was removed.

Guess some conservative didn't like my question and link and wanted it removed.

Go figure.

Why don't you tell us what Community Guideline rule you violated. If it was not justified then it's meaning full. If it was justified, then take your punishment and quit complaining.
