Can a recruiter offer and put in writing your first duty station for after AIT? I know there would have to be an opening or slot for my MOS at the location, and the Army could change its mind by the time I finished AIT. Just want to know if I can expect to be able to choose when I sign the contract.

I just talked to a recruiter, and he says sometimes they do at MEPS. It does depend on your MOS somewhat, but there is no guarantee, I wont know till I actually talk to the counselors at MEPS Thanks for all the replies

Yes and no it depends on your MOS some MOS's you can choose, but if you don't have one of the certain MOS's there is no way that you are going to be able to choose a first duty station you can fill out what they used to call a "Dream Sheet" that is where you can request where you want to be stationed you have 3 Continental United States choices and 3 Outside Continental United States. Plus the choice of doing Drill Sgt. or be a recruiter.

P.S. If you reenlist they may let you choose where you want to go depending on MOS I can go about anywhere because i am a 68W (Combat Medic).

Yes, I got my choice with my MOS Army medic 15 years ago, they offer about 3 bases and I don't think it can change unless the unit you go to deploys you, They are usually huge mega regional hospitals for medics, hope this helps

In general, no. You can put in any request you want, but that's not a contractual obligation on the Army's part. If you enlist for a specialty job function, i.e. linguist, then your future duty station will be limited to special places where your MOS is utilized.

you get three choices of where you want to go. u choose these at the end of training, if it is now the begining then its changed, and they will try their best to put you at ur first choice. its about a 50/50 shot.

why do people think that things are the same as fifteen years ago when they joined?

Station of Choice is no longer an option because of the world situation.

Sometimes they offer you a choice if you are #1 in your MOS class.

You get 3 choices. Then they put you where they need you.

If you go airborne, they won't send you to a non-airborne post....
