Everyone hated Moore because he was a fat fanatical loud mouth. Did people vote for Bush just to give him the finger?

Yes. More or less. That;s why I'm glad the DNC shut his mouth up in 2006 at let the issues speak for themselves.

And he'd better keep a muzzle on it in 2008 too. He's the fringe nutcase that the reactionary right can seize upon.

I hate the guy. And I'm a liberal.

I think that may have been the case for a few voters. No matter how ardent you are in your beliefs, if you come across as shrill you may be doing more harm than good. I think the Swift Boat Vets also did some damage to John Kerry's chances. There's no one factor that got Bush voted back in, there were many factors.

The electoral college is what keeps this country from civil war. If it was just popular vote than New York, California, Florida, and Texas would be the only relevant states. Than the people in the other 46 states would be disenfranchised.
