Bush. Jr. never did listen to Uncle Jim either, did he?

"Even if Hussein were captured and his regime toppled, U.S. forces would still have been confronted with the specter of a military occupation of indefinite duration to pacify the country and sustain a new government in power. Removing him from power might well have plunged Iraq into civil war, sucking U.S. forces in to preserve order. Had we elected to march on Baghdad, our forces might still be there.''

- former Secretary of State James Baker, 1996

O'Reilly pressed her to name "one conservative thinker at NBC News?" Mitchell rejected the premise that ideology has any impact on journalism: "That's not the way we approach the news." O'Reilly followed up: "But you can't even tell me one conservative thinker." Mitchell held firm: "I can't tell you one liberal thinker."

the neoconservative war-mongerers, acknowledge the failure of the Iraq war, why, then, do they balk at the idea of pulling the troops out of that country?

I have a court case in China in February and want to ask a Chinese local lawyer to represent me so I don't have to attend. The Chinese courts said I needed to notorize the "power of Attorney" contract and other documents I wish to enter into evidence. They also mentioned something about getting the embassy to stamp them... Could someone please explain how I go about doing this from here in Australia??

You know, in democratic set up all the peoples are equal before the law. And the President , the Prime Minister and all other government fuctionaries regard as the servants of the people. Because all of them are living under the patronage of money contributed by the common people as tax and other levies. People includes prostitutes to smugglers to beggars are the part of such contribution. But in most of the countries such government dignitaries enjoys profound luxuries sans knowing the greivances of common people. We know ,still poverty & starvation plagued in our world. But the rulers think, all these enigmas are the fate of those poor people who have the duty to pay tax, at the same time cursed to expereince utter poverty without any right. Who, the great, invented this type of democracy? thanks for democratic autocracy! During the rule of kings, we did only tolerate one king. But now our parliament full of kings and we, the poor forced to tolerate hundreds of kings simultaneously

The press only rarely covers the EU, mostly when an enlargement or some other major decision is concerned. Should however the press also pay attention to the less known aspects such as daily EU policy, so that European citizens know more about the institution that has such a huge impact on their lives?

I have a question that's bothering me. My brother's in the national guard, and I "overheard" him on the phone talking about next month he'll be training to go to Iraq. But I don't get how that's possible because he's not active! He also never signed up for it, is that just something that everyone's doing right now because of what's going on? Or can people be forced to go even if there not active? I would ask him but then he'd know I was eavesdropping. And I thought they weren't even suppost to send out any more of our national guard (tx) before a certain year, like 2010 or something.
