Much as I find the position of the detractors objectionable, I cannot say they are destroying America. I support their right to hold and express whatever opinions they like. I do agree with you that the rhetoric is getting old though. What I wish is that they could be honest and stop stating their speculations as though they were proved fact and further trying to act as though they have the right to speak for the whole country by proxy. As to the military Chelleigh's answer is a good indication of the problem. She believes that she supports the military. However, she is against the mission, doesn't believe the troops can complete it and that they are only acting because they are ordered to so. This implies that they are not dedicated, but rather just slaves to the administration. Then she finishes with the idea that they are keeping their dissent quiet simply to spare the country pain. In my talks with service personnel returning from Iraq none of this is true to them. In short she does not support the military, she supports only the idea of people not dying. This is a common thread for many antiwar types and it's fine, but it does not constitute supporting the military. In order to support the military you must believe they are dedicated, capable and indeed can complete their mission. Alas this is the new face of politics in this country. So get ready because more of the same is coming. My suggestion is answer these types of responses with the positives of the situation as you see them regaring the military and the president. We already have one negative side, we don't need two.

I respect the Office but I do not respect the man in it. This is the US and when them guys wrote that first document they had some good ideas about Peace,Liberty,Rights,Freedoms,Justice and Speach. Yeah I smash on Bush, I do not agree at all with his private war based on a lie.
Did Iraq ever attack US? not that I know of.
Did Iraq back, sponsor and send the terrorists here? not that I know of.
Did Iraq buy weapons from US? yes
Did Iraq use US weapons against the Kurds? yes
Is evil bad Saddam dead? yes
Are the elections over? yes
Why are we still invaders in a foriegn land. I have no idea.
I am a proud American, I wish to remain Proud I wish to remain American. If the President would start telling us the truth maybe he would have more people that agree with him. I do not know.

All the liberals have is hate. they have to hate.
They cannot face the fact that Al Qaida and Osama grew in power during Clinton's ineffectual reign in office. too busy playing "Hide the Cigar" with Interns to bother with national defense!
It was Reagan that broke the Soviet Union
It was Bush Sr. that freed Kuwait from Iraq
It was Bush Jr. that freed Iraq from Saddam
It was Clinton that DIDN'T do anything while terrorism grew more bold until it led up to 9/11.

They are in denial about the real threats to our national security. It is easier for them to hate Bush, the military, and the United States culture rather than face the scary fact that our way of life is under attack from extremists.

we all know the president does not have real power in this country....it is controlled by the party, the lobbyists and congress.....but he is normally used as a scap goat for everything........
notice now that the old man bush and clinton are former presidents, they play golf together and are super good friends....why? because they know what it is like in that oval office, they know they had no real control and understand each other more than you think.

Seeing as how you have pretty much approached us all with this comment, not all of us have that problem. Take me for example, I don't agree nor support anything that Bush says or does, but I support the military 110% for doing what they need to/are ordered to do and don't complain about it just so we don't have to live in turmoil and chaos.

A very good topic to raise, you know. Even in Russia we know what is happening out there. One American told me,that only about 20 % of americans approve bush's policy nowadays. I don't know what can be done but something should be! It is all his father's outstanding ambitions.
