will it cause the war to escalate and
how else will the mission be accomplished without it.
can't you see that there is no other choice if we have no more allies to help us out. it has already been hinted at by the military themselves

Ideally, you could have a Battleship Fleet in the Atlantic, and one in the Pacific. seems like everyone seems to think it's a good idea...except for the people who spend the Navy's money.

Every year, starting about this time, hundreds of thousands of Mexicans head back over the border for a long holiday break. In Mexico they've even instituted what they call the "Paisano Program" to welcome them and their dollars back. Check it out at: http://vivirlatino.com/2005/11/21/the-paisano-program.php

With supposed tightening of border security, how will they get back north in January? If the US were serious about stopping illegal immigration, wouldn't that be the perfect time? No reactionary, bigoted answers please. It's a serious question and I'm looking for thoughtful answers.

A draft does not eliminate volunteers--I was a volunteer during Vietnam and there was also a draft.( I volunteered before the war started-President Kennedy asked us to ask what we could do for the country and not what the country could do for us)
But the Guard and Reserve Troops should not serve more than one tour and the regular Army andMarine troops need relief too.
So I say a sustained war requires a draft and if we are not willingto support a draft we do not support a sustained war such as we have now in Iraq. Draft or bring home the troops.

I've read that it actually INCREASES out-of-wedlock pregnancy and abortion rates. I believe the distribution of birth control is demeaning to women, degrading of human sexuality and adverse to human health and happiness. Do you agree?

Do you think Bush has worked out that Osama and his 9/11 cronies are in Afghanistan yet?

I would not be happy at all knowing my son died fighting a war that should never have started in the first place.

And to all those about to give me a thumbs down, please justify what Iraq did to America. I dont want to hear generalizations like 'war on terror' and other rhetoric. I want to know specifically what Iraq did to America that has provoked a war that has cost thousands of lives over there?

And all just to appease his dad over his humiliation in the first Gulf war. Geez ..........

It looks as though John McCain may get the nomination from republicans, and John Edwards may get the democratic nomination. Does this look like a 50 50 election again? Do you like the choices? Who would you vote for?

Sometimes the patriotic cant coming from US TV reminds me of the jingoistic propoganda that was rife during the days of the British Empire. Does every nation that becomes powerful get a superiority complex and try to gain territory and control the world?

We Indians have a secular constitution, allow freedom of religion unlike much of Islamic. If fact its the only country in the world that subsidises Haj for the Muslims from the taxpayers money which maynot be Muslims, Muslim continue to enjoy seperate, discrimantory against women laws due to the freedom provided by the Indian constitution yet most crime, anti state activities like bombing are carried out by Muslims. Why dont other Muslim brothers call them to their countries and pay for them. Why dont we kick them out?

Earlier today, I heard that Charles Rangel wants to introduce a bill reinstating the draft. He argues that if the politicians knew that their children or their friends' children could be called to serve, they would be less likely to declare unjust wars. EXCUSE ME?!! Does he have some sort of amnesia? He must not remember the Vietnam War, because there were plenty of cases in which politicians and other influential people managed to keep their sons from going to fight. In fact, that's the subject of the Creedence Clearwater Revival song "Fortunate Son".
