Find out it's the hangmans first day?

"Red Ken" plans to increase the London congestion charge to £25.00 for drivers of people-carriers (or "Chelsea tractors", as they have been dubbed) or on any vehicle that he considers to be a "gas-guzzler". Are his action justified in the name of traffic reduction, or is this another one of his old socialist dinosaur attacks on the wealthy? I don't see an end to the poverty in parts of the East end. I swear blind that he's just feathering his own nest (as champagne socialist hypocrites like him are wont to do).

Today there are media reports that violence has broken out in the Sunni part of the mainly Shi'ite Hurriya area in northwest Baghdad. These two areas are referred to as 'enclaves'.

Are we in danger of witnessing the development of 'enclaves' like these in the UK where Islamic settlers appear to be living in close proximity to each other, despite the fact that in the UK there is total freedom to buy property wherever they want?

This is an open unloaded question with the intention of generating intelligent discussion.

The Victorian Greens (Australia), in tonight's election, were variously tipped to win 2 lower house seats and 4 upper house seats. It now appears, after a shitty preference choice by the Libs, that The Greens won't win a single seat.

Whay can't the Greens win a seat, and what the he*l is wrong with the people who vote for fascists?

I was convicted of 1st degree robbery when I was 15 years old. After being released from prison I've graduated from UCLA, have not had any encounters with the law, and have done good community service. Do you think that the Cal. Bar will approve my moral character determination if I decide to go to law school?

Suppose you got married on a fiance visa, legally, several years ago, but you never adjusted status to permanent resident. Could you still do it, or would it be too late? At what point would the fiance visa become worthless as a basis for adjusting status?

Does anyone except the most diehard Labour Party member really believe that a question and answer session with Gordon Brown at the conference is anything but a publicity stunt. These arranged situations could make you weep if you actually were stupid enough to believe that there was any integrity in them. Carefully selected Party members will be given questions to ask Brown (who has got all the answers) as if they were genuine queries.
Just before the Labour Party apparatchics start screaming I know the opposition parties are no better.
Point of my question is since most people nowadays see this theatre for what it is, namely a charade why do politicians keep on doing it?

I'm dealing with a dead beat dad who has two other children. He gave up his rights to his oldest and doesn't support the next child. My child is his third child but I'm the first one to file for child support. He got another girl pregnant. My child is two months and he hasn't bought anything, gave me money or visited my child. What are we entitled to? Do I have to let him see her when he pays child support? What if he moves to another state, does the court order still binding? What if he gives up his rights, can he still be ordered to pay child support? What if he wants joint custody, then what? He doesn't have time for a newborn...he parties nonstop and has a new girlfriend with a new baby on the way. He ran around with her while I was pregnant. Not to mention, he was and is verbally/mentally/emotionally abusive...he basically harasses me daily. I don't believe he will take care of our child if granted visitation rights. What grounds do I have to ask the Judge to deny visitation?

I live in Britain, where even thinking about guns is illegal, so I don't understand this stuff. Does it mean that you are allowed to walk around town armed to the teeth, as long as you hold your guns in plain view, rather than putting them in your pockets? Seems a little strange to me... Can any Americans out there fill me in? Does it vary according to which state you are in?
Cheers,
Max

my soon to be wife / fiancé is a resident alien, we've been dating for almost 2 years, I can see her as my wife and things are going well... she'll need to leave the US in about 8 months if we aren’t married... now, what I was thinking is that we go ahead and get married but make it just "legal" like with a prenuptial agreement to keep our assets separate... no big ceremony because we both live in Hawaii with parents all over the world. This would be for convenience and would be treated like an engagement mentally... and then when we relocate in a year or so we would have a ceremony and have the families come when its easier... I know it’s not traditional and I don’t want to cheapen the experience… but we love each other and want to make this an easy transition, and under the circumstances this feels ok... any suggestions on how to make it go smoothly? Legal advice? Just don’t want to rush in, but I still want us to be together... thanks.
