I live in Britain, where even thinking about guns is illegal, so I don't understand this stuff. Does it mean that you are allowed to walk around town armed to the teeth, as long as you hold your guns in plain view, rather than putting them in your pockets? Seems a little strange to me... Can any Americans out there fill me in? Does it vary according to which state you are in?
Cheers,
Max

It means that the arms can be put in your pocket and concealed, as opposed to carrying them in the open.

In some States you need a permit to carry a gun. Like California for example. In Arizona you can carry a gun as long as it is in plain view but you can take a class and get a concealed weapons permit. In Wisconsin you can carry a weapon concealed without a permit and it has the lowest crime rate in the US. No guns allowed in Washington DC and it has the highest crime rate. Go figure!
Hope that explains it,
Rich

The laws vary from state to state. Many states unconstitutionally restrict a law abiding citizens right to keep and bear arms, but the liberal media and the leftist extremist judges allow this.

We all have the right to be armed and defend ourselves, as guaranteed by the 2nd amendment: 'the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed'. Some communist liberals argue that this refers to the National Guard, which did not exist until over 100 years after the 2nd amendment was written (typical liberal logic).

The origins of the 2nd amendment come from the Colonists who wanted freedom from the tyrannical rule of a king. An armed populous allowed the people to fight back. This is still necessary in todays society to keep a government from becoming too powerful and tyranical.

In the state where I live, law abiding citizens can carry a weapon concealed...this prevents gun nazis from having a stroke from seeing a firearm, but yet allows a patriot to defend himself if needs be.

"When people fear the government, there is tyranny. Only when the government fears the people can there be liberty"
-Thomas Jefferson

Over 40 states in the U.S. have concealed carry provisions. This means that if you meet all the requirements, and qualify with the handgun you wish to carry, then for a fee, you are licensed to carry the weapon concealed. However, there are restrictions, and places where you can't be armed.

If you can obtain a concealed firearms permit (you need to know people in the right places) you can carry the class of weapon your qualified for concealed on your person, under your daily outfit (using this weapon in public is a hole other story). It's much easier to obtain an exposed firearms permit for security occupations (weapon is carried in plain sight and in a holster). As an American living in Britain i can't see how law enforcement are able to keep fatalities down, and how unarmed officers answer armed robbery calls with out proper equipment. Some US states (Texas for starters) have gone overboard issuing these concealed permits to unsuitable people.

It varies from state to state, but the carry permit is for concealed weapons, you can keep one in your vehicle without a permit if the state allows guns, most do. Florida has the most lenient laws if you need to unload on somebody:)

I live in Tennessee. I have a "handgun carry permit" issued by the state. I can carry the weapon concealed or open. Not all states do this. I carry a 45auto all the time.

Concealed means, The Weapon is not visible at all times. Carry means you can see the weapon on the person. Most of the gun must be visible. Not just the tip of the handle. Most Styates have State regs. firtsgov.gov , fbi.gov , atf.gov , your Local Sheriff/Police Dept..

In the US, citiznes have a right to own guns.

The right to carry them varies from state to state.

In most states if you get a permit from the state you may carry the guns, depending on the state, they may be carried in the open, or concealled,

Often there are rules about having to be in a holster, not just in your pocket.

And of course it seems strange to me that a person could not have that right.

To have a permit, you have to complete a course on weapons, and have a criminal background check made.

There are almost no crimes ever committed by people who have carry permits.

You must have a permit to carry a concealed loaded weapon. While transporting a weapon, it must be in plain view without ammunition within reach( i.e in your car). California law
