It doesn't give the accused the right to face their accuser. What if you're driving down the street and your speedometer is a little off, and you end up getting a photo ticket for 41 in a 40. Or are cameras built in with a little "forgiveness"? Any comments from current or former law enforcement are welcome.

Hi, earlier this year I released a book. Another author has since released a book. It is clear to me that the author has taken my book, and reworded much of it. In some instances not even bothering to reword it. I believe there is significant case of plagiarism.

I live in the UK. Preferably I would like to sort it out with the publisher ammicably, although I will go to court if necessary.

Im fairly intelligent and am quite willing to take the case to court myself, although I cannot afford to pay a legal team.

I would like to know how to prepare a legal case for plagiarism?

I'm reasonable man. What is the best way to make initial contact with the publisher? where I can learn what forms I need etc. Procedures, online resources etc?

I'm baffled as to the softness of politicians toward law breakers. These illegal immigrants are exactly the same as a person breaking into my home that is from the poor side of town and I must let him stay in my home and help him along. Hey, the person works hard so I should let him stay...right? NOT!!!! This is bs and if I broke any law, no matter what it was...I'd be prosecuted and fined....there should be no exceptions for these lawbreakers either. I was recently rear ended on the freeway by a work truck, and am currently seeing a chiropracter (as well as my daughter, who was also in the accident). I used my insurance initially, because the owner of the company wasn't returning my phone calls. The guy has insurance, but doesnt want to use it, so when all is said and done, he will have to reimburse my insurance out of his pocket. I'm not using a lawyer, so after my car has been fixed and the Dr. releases us, how do I know what to ask for pain and suffering?

The fines levied on corporations are too tiny to get their attention in most cases, and are just considered a business cost.
Revoking or amending their charters for violations would send out major signals. The attorney general of a state may revoke a corporate charter. It was considered for Unocal in California.
Of course the investment ramifications would be huge,
and make other corporations pay attention, and be better citizens.

Every motorist pays the same amount for road tax,regardless of how much they use the road:someone who covers only 1,000 miles a year pays the same as someone who covers 20,000.This is surely unfair.The justification for having a road tax system is that it brings in revenue for the goverment,revenue which should be used to improve the road system and to help reduce levels of population.But even more revenue could be brought in by scrapping the system and replacing it with an increase in the amount of tax on fuel.This must be not only a better way of raising revenue but also a much fair system.It is a change which should therefore be made.

Right before the election, gas prices went up locally by 7 cents a gallon. Since the election, they have now gone down by 12 cents a gallon. If the Republicans are controlling the price, why would they raise the price before the election, and lower them after?

Or maybe all these conspiracies about the Republicans are actually wrong!
