Well in that respect, you could just about say that every military installation is effectively defended.......there aren't that many stories out there about people trying to sneak on and being successful. And they do use cameras to help, and I with my own eyes have seen motion detectors being used.......
We all know the military has the best technology, why they refuse to implement Any technology is a clear sign that our gov. doesn't want to stop illegal immigration.
And them saying a fence won't work, is partly true..... if they plan on just putting a chain link up...well yea that won't work. They need to use technology on our border. And a fence/wall that is not just one little fence. Layers, razor wires ,concrete, steel.....and they better make sure they take the fence at least 10 ft. underground.

What you and everyone else needs to do is read up on treaties like NAFTA and CAFTA and get very pissed off. These treaties are every bit as responsible for the weakening of our borders as an unwilling, unresponsive, unconservative president in willfully ignoring the will of the people. Internationalism is the root cause of the weakening of the border.
A fence would absloutely not work. What is needed is a big big wall that would make Berlin blush. A fence can be cut. A concrete wall, well that takes a little more effort to break through. Add a sharpshooter every 200 feet or so and the wall gets even more effective. Add a giant American flag every few hundred feet as well to remind crimaliens we mean business and the wall is not only effective, but damned pretty to boot! Cutting trade with Mexico would be another good step until they stop trying to fix their economy by helping people sneak into this one. Create disincentives.
Not to mention holding the companies who hire crimaliens accountable. And if our supposedly Republican president doesn't have the testicular fortitude to pull it off, then we the people need to do so with our dollar. I refuse to do business with anyone who I know or suspect employs crimaliens.
It's not that the USA can't defend her borders, it's that she won't.

There is only one solution - reset Pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to prevent future debt Monetize all existing debt and obligations to zero out the books Pass an amendment creating a new finite monetary system not controlled by bankers Create currency in the new monetary system Rebuild the system This would yield a much smaller more efficient government and a nation with no debt and no inflation If all of the spending Obama plans for this year alone is approved the annual debt service alone will be greater than the massive "stimulus" bill which created such controversy. It currently stands at a devastating 500 billion a year making it the 2nd largest budget item after HHS

The are surrounding Area 51is secure because it is not a matter of life and death to people to get in there, since they would be arrested for going in there people won't risk sneaking in. On the other hand, illegally crossing the border is very important to these people, so important, they are willing to risk their lives to do it.( I don't think they should be allowed to come over illegally)

Um, Bush didn't want to sign the border fence bill into law, it was put in front of him by the pressure of overwhelming public support to actually do something to deter illegal immigration from Mexico.

We're not talking 'can't', here, we're talking 'won't'.

Illegal immigration's a crime, and failing to prevent it is negligence. It's really as simple as that...

It should be obvious by now our government is more corrupt than most third world countries.... if our government was actually concerned about another terroirst strike on American soil our borders would have been closed within hours of 9/11! Why is it more important to have approx. 150,000 troops to protect iraqi's than to have 150,000 troops on our borders to protect Americans... guess cheney & haliburton needed the money!

they can build the fence. they just don't want to. America should bring charges on bush for the false acts he did in Iraq, and being a communist to this country. he's a trader to the united states of America. what would are four fathers say about this. he's a disc race to are country.

I think a fence is a necessary element combined with internal enforcement, visa tracking, and discontinuing the aberational practice of rewarding with benefits those who come illegally.

I think if a fence wouldn't help, so many wouldn't be against it.

However, area 51 is small, isn't it?

edit - ok.

The aliens secretly kept inside Area 51 must be contained because of their unearthly mind powers. As for the mind powers of the ILLEGAL aliens, well, you've read the kind of stuff they post....

I'm sure they could secure the border if they wanted...might be a reason why they don't. Probably money to be made!
