I agree. But the consequences could be revolution at the most. At the least if the activity is legal the government Representative that prohibited the legal activity could face criminal charges or a civil suit against him and the local, state, and or federal government.

The government CAN - whether the government should or not is a different matter. I don't believe any government should introduce any law that isn't in their manifesto or that people aren't allowed to vote on in some way. Why do politicians not let us decide, what are they afraid of, why do they have to run the whole show? They are killing democracy, they make election time pledges (which were cynically constructed to get the maximum voters) which they will then conveniently ignore and go on to persue their own agendas. Is that democracy?

The government can only do that in a dictatorship.
I all civilized forms of society you have fundamental rights which the government can't prohibit,like freedom of religion,in word and practice,freedom of speech and equal protection under the law

They are not doing a very good job of prohibiting the invasion on our southern borders. So there are things they can't prohibit.

Neither. The government will pass certain laws and bring them into action, only after serious public outcry. What worries me is the Top Dog we know about, but at the municipal and State/Prov. level, they get away with Murder!! I say dump elected officials, they are bottom feeders.

Look at some of the Blue Laws on the books in the various states - my favorite is no kissing on Sunday.

That'll be dictatorship. It would have to get the votes of the senate or parliament before imposing any laws.
