You're mixing apples and oranges. And why shouldn't retired people be taxed. Aren't they still American citizens? Why should they be exempt? Some retirees are wealthy, you want to exempt them too?
Honestly, I think some people in this world want to be taken care of by the government from cradle to grave!

Term limits on Congress would solve a lot of problems. The other thing would be to go back to the Constitution and have the Congressman from each state "draft" the state Senators. Than the voters would pay a whole lot more attention to the idiots they send to Washington.
We are a Republic of individual States who have agreed to live and die by the Constitution for the good of the Union. We are not a nation of individuals cast in indentured servitude to the Federal Government.

As the system currently exists, term limits won't work. If you seek to limit the power of 'K' street, bringing in newbies to Congress every 4 years isn't the right idea. Besides we have term limits every two years, its called the congressional elections.

What needs to be done is to ban all lobbyists and special interest groups from bribing and outright owning politicians.
Any politician that is caught taking money should be tried for treason. And no comfy club fed stops like martha stewart got either. shove them in a state pen from their home state. And then seize all the assests of the corporation or group(s) that have sent the money and stick them in prison as well. no more he/she who has the biggest wallet wins.

I hear you. I think if they do not live up to their promise the first year then give them the boot. If we would cut their pay to what they are worth would'nt hurt either. Turn on cspan sometime and see what your money is doing. You would be lucky to see 30 people there working. I like the part of them not have to pay into S.S. but then they only have to pay into it for 5 years to get the full benifit.

I absolutely agree...cut the corruption in DC. One other thing that needs to be done is cut the senate healthcare package and let them use medicare like the rest of us...
