If we assume that Mexicans come to America for employment, wouldn't it be in America's best interest to invest in Mexican roads, infrastructure, education and economy? Rural Mexico is devestatingly poor, far poorer than our inner cities in the US. By investing in that country, we can help develop the rural economy to produce jobs there that pay a livable wage and to promote schools that give children a chance to succeed in the global marketplace. Economics works. The only way to slow immigration in America is to make Mexico stronger.
Why won't any American politicians recognize this? Why won't Americans realize that a wealthy Mexico is good, no, great for America? Why build a wall when a bridge is so much more productive?
