Not very well, Mr. Tannerman, not very well at all.

If you think about it, socialism involves humans agreeing to make their own assets and expertise entirely subservient to the betterment of the society or nation as a whole, on the faith that everyone will do the same.

The problem is that usually not everyone does the same, so it winds up being a few shouldering the burden of the many, until the few suddenly realize, hey why am I doing all the work to provide for the others?

How Socialism Works

I have a feeling, that the competition driven capitalism, will eventually end up like socialism, but with the companies in the steering wheel, and not the state.

Where one company has grown so large it can just buy off any competitor. It soon starts to realize that it should internalize its employees education starting from age 5, and teach them only useful knowledge that they will use in their future work in the same company.

However, todays "Social Democracy" works the way that the state subsidizes activities that it benefits of- like studying, making babies and such. It also takes care of necessities, such as healthcare.
And then, using its power of all these institutions it aims it to make itself a competetive place in the global market.

Socialism doesn't work. It is a great theory but not a practical form of government. The people ruled by socialism in essence have no possessions. The Government dictates and provides all services. Naturally this leads to the government having everything while the populous stays poor.

Socialism in terms of the number 1 definition below is widely practiced in America today.

Examples:
-City, state, federal law enforcement
U.S. military
-Post office
-Public Libraries
-Public Schools
-Public parks
-Public roads and highways

It works just fine in some circumstances, free markets are better in others.

Well in a socialist society the government alot of control in fact it runs almost everything important. Now then the pros are that health care and college and retirement pension etc etc etc are all free and a basic right...however you do pay alot in taxes and as for health care you generally dont get to choose your doctor.
but all in all in theory its a good system but as in all forms of government it has its flaws

It means the Government taxes the hell out of the people that
work and all the people including the freeloaders can have lots
of free benefits. The problem is that there is not much incentive
for anybody to work, but somebody has to to keep it going.
Its sort of in-between Communism and Democracy. It is what
Liberals strive for. Neither system is perfect.
