Why do people blame our war on terror for causing people to join hate groups like al Qaeda?

I wouldn't join the Black Panthers no matter how many crosses were burned in my yard. I wouldn't join them even if my kids were killed by Klansmen. People are inclined to join these groups out of years and years of brainwashing and promises of grand rewards. Terrorists are not created overnight.

Yet many pakistani and bangladeshi women wear one in the uk, when its not worm in either country culturally and never has been. does this say somthing maybee?

My situation is that my wife purchased 2 plane tickets for a leave that is coming up. I am currently in Iraq, and a direct order from the battalion commander was that no one was to purchase plane tickets for leave yet. I did not tell my wife about not buying tickets because I did not anticipate my wife buying them so early and without telling me because you must know that things in military life change everyday. My wife called the FRG one day and they told her that the dates were set in stone and that she could buy the tickets, so she did. I told my platoon sgt that the FRG had given my wife the go ahead to buy tickets and now hes out to get me with an article 15, which makes no sense to me whatsoever. Do you have any references for what authority a commander has to tell soldiers what they can buy and not buy, and what authority they have over wives?

As some of you may know there is currently a bill being composed in congress to mandate net neutrality, and, as fewer of you may know, Cox communications (my ISP) has began airing anti-network neutrality commercials. I am in favor of net neutrality personally, but I can also see the downsides of this issue. Please tell me what you think about it. For additional information on this issue before you compose your answer you can go to:

Are you going to vote and, if so, are you voting FOR a candidate or AGAINST a candidate? Do you feel like you are choosing the lesser of two evils, or are you excited about who you're voting for?

I'm not guessing here, I just posted the question. it was overwhelming. And many indicated that the new citizen would have to read/speak English to even understand the candidates/issues. OK . I agree with that.. . . . . But, do you think that native citizens should have to understand the candidates/issues as a requirement to vote? i don't know how this could be implemented, but if there's a way, I'm for it. And proud to say it! What say you?

They want to die. So killing them is not a deterent. I am thinking old style chaingangs might be a good method of getting the point across. Chain them together and make them clean the streets. Issue cattle prods to the guards.

Or is she someone that just likes to hear herself talk? She's been in the national political scene for well over a decade now...what the heck has she done to deserve the Oval Office? Is it just because of her name? What the heck is going on? Has half of the country gone into la la land?

I listened to a news story that Obama has almost certainly decided that he will run for President.

I would like to have concrete examples of his legislative accomplishments in his 2 years in Congress. I would like other examples of things he has done.

I am uninterested in your opinion of him whether you like him or not I would just like an overview of the things he has done.

Is it just the median I.Q. on this site, or have we as a society fallen so far we are unable to articulate our thoughts and ideas without personal attacks. It reminds me of the show on MYV called Yo Mamma. Please folks, can we just agree to disagree without the attacks on Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers and even dogs. I think this cheapens the discourse, and makes us all look like illiterate fools to the rest of the world.

I've only heard their politicians give answers like John Kerry, "If I were president, I would do something different than the current administration!"

But no specifics on what they would do differetly....because they have no ideas. I don't want a bunch of liberals with no ideas running the country during this time of war.
