In Iowa some of the bars still allow smoking where more do not,,,the reason for this is to see if more non-smokers will frequent the bar,,,but my guess is if they dont frequent it now they probably wont with a smoke free environment,,,,the bars industry may becoming to a screeching halt,,,Smokers such as I have a hard time going out and not being able to have a cigarette with a beer,,,it is silly that they used the excuse that increasing the cigarette tax will in some way help fix the roads yet there have been no road improvements except in the capitol city of Des Moines,,,Pretty unfair to those of us who either are unsuccessful at quitting or that one really does not want to quit just yet for what ever reasons,,,, It is still a choice to smoke or not and the government and the public around us are making smokers a class to be discriminated against,,,its going to take a strong person to convince the world that they are now not discriminating against another race of people but against the activities of a free society,,,,its getting out of control,,,, but in the country it seems no one is happy unless adding stress to some activity of the public,,,, Perhaps if in Iowa we seen more work on the rural roads maybe it wouldnt be so bad to accept but for the last 3 years there has been nothing more than a patch here or there,,,,,

I live in Illinois and you can smoke in most all bars except in some particular cities that have banned it. But pretty much you can smoke in any bar.

Oklahoma gal here. They have pretty well stopped the smoking thing unless it is a room seperate from all others and is vented. Some of the private clubs you can still smoke in. Almost all resturants are smoke free unless they have a seperate room as well. There ya go!

The state of MS has tried but failed to ban smoking in public places. Of course if you have ever visited one of the casinos here, you would know that they would go out of business if it weren't for the smokers.
