"Anchor George Stephanopoulos was asking Bush about comments from James A. Baker III, who has said that the independent commission he co-chairs is pursuing alternatives to "cut and run" or "stay the course" in Iraq.

Said Bush: "Well, listen, we've never been stay the course, George. We have been -- we will complete the mission, we will do our job and help achieve the goal, but we're constantly adjusting the tactics, constantly."

Maybe it was a lapse of memory. After all, it was over a week ago that he said he would stay the course even if the only supporters he had left were Laura and his dog.
Anyone besides me remember that moment in history?

Stay the course means "never give up". It does not mean, "never change strategies". Libs have twisted the meaning and they know it. Bush now has to redefine his stance thanks to the anti-war crowd who have said he refuses to change stategy or strateegery as I like to say it.
