The problem with that is that in all their wisdom (pun intended), they can't tell the difference between a white American or a white Canadian, just like they can't tell the difference between a hispanic that is an actual citizen or an "illegal"...

If as some studies show that 1,000,000 illegals come here from Mexico, and that they are 75% of the illegals, that would mean that 250k come from other countries. Lets' suppose that only 10% of those are Canadians (conservative estimate) or 25k. Now lets' say that 10% of those are criminals (which in actuality is a moot point, because they're all criminals to begin with, since they already broke the law by coming here illegally) or 2500 of them are "quote/unquote" criminals.

Brain S - If those are numbers that you're willing to live with, than please by all means, write to your Congressman, and tell him/her not to worry. We'll be OK...

You can't wave your ANTI immigrant flag unless you are an equal opportunity hater of all illegal immigrants regardless of the color of their skin or their native language. Like you said, with your pun, most people on this site are truly only hating Mexicans, which kills their entire argument as far as I'm concerned.

Since when are Canadians coming over here in droves, weakening our welfare system. Just stunned that it is now becoming a big issue. I was stationed in Homestead, Florida 87-89 and have already delt with this issue, back then. Florida actually considered whether or not to make Spanish the primary language and English secondary in schools there. I would go weeks without hearing anyone speak English. One would encounter 2nd,3rd generations of families, having lived there for years, who still refused to learn the English language. I felt like I was in a forein country for Christ sake. The Miami Herald ran an artical stating that the illegals were arriving there by the 1000's each week. Supposedly Brownsville Texas was trying to rid their area of them. The local powers that be put the homeless immigrants up in a baseball stadium. It took months to clean up garbage and soiled diapers left behind(poverty is no excuse for filthyness)and yet they still complained. They then set them up in furnished apartments(for free) Some of these poor, illegal immigrants still had the gall to complain to local media about cockroaches and rats, and how the apartments werent freshly painted. These same people also admitted that they had lived 8 to a 2 room shack back home with no electricity, running water or decent sanitation.I am all for helping my fellow man and do not consider myself a racist. It's that kinda experience tho that made me less sympathetic towards them. Its high time that the influx is slowed down at least. As long as Americans hire them to do the jobs that Americans don't want to do, illegals will come here. At least they are spending some of their hard earned money here(as they should) and helping to boost a sad economy. As far as I know, we can't expect handouts and such if we go to their countries. I don't think they should be entitiled to anything here. Simply because we have trouble supporting needy Americans and they should come first.

I don't know if you have seen the state of the US Canada border .

In a lot of places it is a page wire fence that is falling down and so overgrown with weeds that it can'tbe seen from a helicopter in places.

The sheer size of the border is awesome for the massive expanse and as such a nightmare to try to patrol .

It's just big no matter how you look at it.

Patrolling it should be divided up amongst the bordering states provinces and the 2 federal governments .

The other problem is your trying to overcome 50 yrs of no political will to do anything on both sides in the space of a month.

From my perspective it would be nice if it wasn't as easy for Americans to sneek in and use our health care and flu shots .

It works both ways and secureing the border would be good for both countries .

They allready have Minutemen on our Northern border. And as far as telling an Illegal from a Legal. I don't think there are very many LEGAL immigrants crossing the dessert on foot in 100 degree weather. Or crossing the border in the middle of knowhere in the middle of the night.

How many Canadians do you think enter the US illegally? We don't need to watch that border half as much as we need to watch the Mexican border. That's where 75% of illegals come from. Would it make sense to stop most Canadian illegals and a very small percentage of Mexican illegals? Obviously not; if we put a strong watch on the Mexican border we will stop more criminals then if we put a strong watch on the Canadian border. Simple proportions, sad that you don't know them.

You're right, I remember reading a story talking about some gigantic pot farm they had, I think it was in Alberta, or maybe B.C., anyway it was this HUGE industrial undertaking, and their target market was...the United States...and, it's already been in the news that people are getting in through Canada. I'm color-blind when it comes to illegal immigration, they say there's 12 million to 20 million illegally in the US, I say they shouldn't stay.
But, that's just me...at any rate, the whole thing's gone beyond stupid, personally I think Limbaugh was right on this one, we should emulate Mexico's current immigration laws. They brook no B.S. on the issue...and Mexico's a rapidly growing country, they have I think it's 107 million people now(used to be 110, but 3 million hot-footed for 'el norte'), but still, they're taking off, and not about to let anyone wrench around with their country. Us, on the other hand, we've been so liberal for so long on the immigration issue, lord only knows how this whole thing's going to work out...
suffice it to say it's become a Big Problem, with no easy answers...just makes you wonder where we'll be in 20 years...

The Mexican border is the priority because millions sneak across that border. Mexicans do not like living in Mexico. Canadians stay in Canada because they like their country.

The Minute Men are on our northern border. I reported that 2 weeks ago..Your insults are as ignorant as your uninformed question Perhaps you need to find out the truth before you ask a question.

We need more Boarder Patrol on our Northern boarder as well.

It's not the Canadians we're worried about.

I wasn't aware that Canadians were sneaking across the Hudson in droves and attaching themselves and their children to our Welfare rolls...not to mention agitating to have their kids educated in French at our expense.

Do let me know when this happens.
