President Bush just signed a law that allows him to designate ANYONE as an "enemy combatant," and then you or I could be held in prison indefinately (forever) without being charged, and not mandatory legal appeal.
President Roosevelt used a similar law to imprison over 100,000 Japanese-American citizens in WW II,
which President Reagan apologised for.
Is this frightening?
The carpet is moving under our feet, and we must walk to stay in the same place!
Is this the America we want?
Habeas Corpus started in 1300. Should we abandon it? Is this freedom?

ok, i never really join the marine corp , but i went to the recruit and i signed lots of papers none of which he told me i was being swore in. he took me to take the asvab test and now i need a physical , but i decide i dont wanna join the marine corp anymore, can i still get out or is it too late?

I find it beyond belief that the guy driving the merc was let off with a caution , caught on camera bang to right's and the cop's gave him a caution ,surely those two cop,s were negligent in their duty and all they did was tell the entire nation it,s ok to drive like a maniac cos we'l just tell you off if we catch you, an absolute waste of tax payer's money and police recource's .

I love the US, and find it to be a fantastic place to live. That being said, it has occured to me that there is nothing sacred about this country as much as the ideas this country was founded on. The Roman empire was fantastic, but eventually fell apart. In an effort to have considered every angle, I am considering buying a property in another country (English speaking, preferably. Spanish would do in a pinch, but it's not my first language). Should things turn ugly for us in the States, I'd like a back-up plan. What is it like in places such as Canada, England, Australia, Ireland, etc. for an American to live? Are any of them especially friendly to foreigners who wish to stay for an extended period of time? Who allows dual citizenship? I am hoping the Yahoo! community can help me with my due diligence.

Instead of the Republicans standing up on their own two feet, and admitting that Bush is a homophobic liar, and a nazi wannabe, they never give real answers to questions.

They just answer all questions by bringing up Bills Clinton and what he did 7 or 8 years ago.

There are so many people saying keep foreigners out and yet they fail to see that the British are immigrants in other countries too. I live in germany and most of my friends are from Britain. So should all these people return when other foreigners are banned. Who is going to pay for that? Who is going to provide jobs for these people.

The fact is that most British see it as a right to be able to work elsewhere but scream blue murder when other come to work in their country.

At the time I lived in Newport Beach California. It was dark, about 9:30 pm and I was walking home from the store. It is a hilly residential neighborhood and I'm about a quarter mile from home when a police car past by me. I was a block from home when the same car came back and stopped me. The officer asked how old I was and where I lived. After I told him I was 17 he said "this is what I do to people that run from me" and he proceeded to frisk me. With my hands on the hood of the car he kicked my feet far apart and checked me for weapons. Then, still in the same position he unzipped my pants, put his hand down between me and my underware and ran the tips of his fingers across the bottom of my testicles. I was Scared to death I couldn't move. He then had me stand up and told me to go. I had always felt he was trying to get me to flinch so he could hit me. I never told anyone this untill about a year ago, I'm now 59 years old. Do I have a case, is there a statute a limitations?
