Believe me, he is. He'll be lucky if he makes the VP for 08 but maybe in 2012 or 2016 (depending on 08), he'll be a serious contender. He has the right stuff, moderate platform, respect from both parties and is an African-American. But 08 won't go to him: it'll be between Hillary and Edwards I think. It all depends on how the Dems do in 19 days but the Dems must move back to the center to recover the White House. I'm expecting to see more of him because he's one of the few honest and hard working politicians in Congress.

Barak has several handicaps in his way to becoming POTUS. First of all, he is black. This country remains a bastion of bigots, even if they do not always vote, having him on a Presidential ticket would open the floodgates for redneck voter registration.
Secondly his name sounds "Arabic" Or Middle Eastern. See above paragraph, same principle applies here.
He is certainly a candidate/politician to keep an eye on. If he doesn't commit any errors that the right can pounce on and maintains an even agenda, I would certainly consider supporting him.

It's possible but the VP spot might be better for now an Edwards Obama ticket would probably kick some republican booty
