The Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act is a law passed by Congress that replaced the Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act. In short, the SCRA gives servicemembers significant protections in various areas of their civil dealings. For example, the act places a six percent cap on most debts existing prior to being placed on active duty. It also gives servicemembers protections in Civil Suits when they are unable to make an appearance due to their military duties. This law does many other things as well.
