BURLESON, Texas -- Hoping to stiffen its defense against nefarious intruders, the Burleson school district is training students and teachers to fight back with everything from books to scissors.

I don't want ANY kid to have to fight with whatever is at hand, I want the 'nefarious intruder' (whatever the hell that might mean)
not to be armed to the teeth in the first place!
Are we expecting kids to be 'fighting' in the frontline, (with books and pens and lunchboxes against automatic weapons?) when the only solution is to control guns. Kids are in real danger in schools because some idiots think it is their 'right' to have an arsenal at home?

This 'solution' could only come from Texas!

Anyone know what I need to do? I want to become an Australian citizen. I have two years of school left and then I'll have a Masters in Biology. Then I want to move to Australia.

I don't want to have to marry, but does anyone know a good way for me to do this?

There are reports that the "throw the bums out" atmosphere could lead to democrat majority in November. Will you vote for a democrat, republican, or independent?

One can tell a Bush voter. They walk like they are constipated and they have a look as if they're about to cry. Why is that?

Opinion
Keep immigration debate civil
Friday, September 15, 2006 2:05 PM CDT
Arnold Schwarzenegger
By not finishing comprehensive immigration reform this year, Congress left behind a poisoned debate that will continue to fuel a growing anger in our country.
Hispanic leaders, meeting in Los Angeles last week, were already debating whether they should continue marching in the streets, disrupt the economy or register voters. At the same time, people who are angry about the federal government’s failure to stop illegal immigration have introduced local measures to take away housing, jobs and even medical assistance from noncitizens in their communities. On both sides, people are demanding to be heard.
Now Congress has walked away from the debate, at least for this year. So it’s up to the rest of us to tone down our rhetoric and listen to the voices on all sides. As an immigrant to this country and a proud American citizen, I have a unique perspective (Cont. link)http://rds.yahoo.com/S=53720272/K=illegal+immigration/v=2/SID=e/l=NSR/R=25/;_ylt=A9htfMJx8jBFvAoB0gzQtDMD;_ylu=X3oDMTBkdHNpdDlqBHBvcwMyNQRzZWMDc3I-/SIG=12nqmmg27/EXP=1160922098/*-http%3A//www.agweekly.com/articles/2006/10/12/news/opinion/opin03.txt

I'll give the study the benefit of doubt and say it is probably correct.

Here is a few quoates the author gave in defense of the study:
"this cluster survey approach, is the standard way of measuring mortality in very poor countries where the government isn’t very functional or in times of war. And when UNICEF goes out and measures mortality in any developing country, this is what they do. When the U.S. government went at the end of the war in Kosovo or went at the end of the war in Afghanistan and the U.S. government measured the death rate, this is how they did it."

"We think about 650,000 extra people have died because of this invasion, and about 600,000, some 90%, are from violence."

"t could conceivably be as few as 400,000 deaths. So we’re upfront about that. We don’t know the exact number. We just know the range, and we’re very, very confident about both the method and the results."

What do you think?

I am American and moving to Australia with my ozzie boyfriend. I was wondering the best way to go about getting a visa if I am working. I've heard that it's hard to get sponsorship through a company for a working visa. We aren't engaged, but will be living together. Is a De facto Visa difficult to obtain?

Critics Say Immigration Parody Song Is Racist

Mary Stewart
Reporting

(CBS 11 News) WACO A central Texas country music band has produced a song that they say is a humorous spoof on a serious subject - illegal immigration, but critics say its fueling racism.

In Waco the song is rubbing some Hispanics the wrong way.

At one club, its dance night and the audience is waiting for one song - "So Long Texas - Hello Mexico."

The song conjures up a Texas cowboy moving to Mexico to live off the Mexican government. The lyrics have the cowboy singing about how turn-about is fair play with Mexicans illegally moving here.

Singer Johnnie Bradshaw suspected the song could be controversial, ( full story in link)

In this question I have included Canada. Canadians also complain about how little effect their laws have on pedophiles.

Pedophiles are released every day back into our socities. The statistics prove that Pedophilsm is a much larger problem then both countries Politicians suggest. Every expert will convey to you that their is no cure for Pedophiles. My question is if there is no cure, and no known rehabilitation measure; Why do our law permit these criminals back into our society. The recivisum rate is high, which means they will re-offend. Your thoughs?

RELATED STORIESTwo bills, one in the U.S. House and one in the U.S. Senate, provide different views of immigration. Both, however, impact illegal immigrants, border security and punishment for those who interact with illegal immigrants.
The bills differ in many ways. One of the major differences is H.R. 4437 defines all illegal immigrants as felons, while S. 2611 increases the number of worker visas and allows illegal immigrants living here for more than five years to become legal, permanent residents.

"The House bill has a narrower focus, mostly on border security and enforcement," said U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Holland. Hoekstra also said he is leery of providing citizenship to those already in the U.S. illegally.

Parts of the House bill include:

* Building of a 700-mile long fence along the U.S./Mexico border.

* Making it a felony to assist, encourage or direct people to enter country illegally.

* Making illegal presence in the country is a felony

Some parts of the Senate bill:

* Calls for 300 miles of fencing along the U.S./Mexico border and 500 miles of vehicle barriers.

* Requires employers within 18 months on electronic system to verify hires are legal.

* Creates a guest-worker program for 1.5 million immigrant farm workers who can also earn legal permanent residency.

We now know for sure North Korea has WMD which has been suspected. Now we invaded Iraq because Bush claimed they had WMD so, For you Bush lovers out there, what next? Shall we wait until they come after us fearing invasion from the USA or will Bush just run from confrontation with Kim Jong as he did Bin Laden?

In Sacramento CA, 14 girl old freshman took picture of President Bush & wrote Die on top, drawing dagger through heart on MySpace.com. Secret Service found it & visited with her parents, took her out of class & "poor baby" says they were mean & yelled at her.
She threatened the President of the United States what did she expect. I tried to warn everyone it was a federal offense, but it continues on here all the time.
In this world of school shooting who can tell the real threats from the stupid statements. Outcome still unknown.

I am 51 & it has always been a federal offense, the political party does not make a difference.

So I live by SDSU in a pretty fancy apartment complex. It's more family oriented so we choose to party at friends houses instead of here. But now we're getting all of these noise complaints for talking too loud, listening to music in the middle of the afternoon, and other trivial stuff. And once I was on my balcony around 2AM and the manager comes home from the club all full of liquid courage ready to tell us off, so i called her a ***** (wrong move, I know). But you cannot get evicted for that can you? I was under the impression that as long as we pay all of our bills on time ($2000 for a 3-bedroom) we have to be doing some pretty outrageous stuff to get the boot for real. But then we got a big scary letter from their lawyers saying eviction this, sherrif's department that. Basically a scare tactic. So we have tried to be quiet but now I'm all self-concious over every little noise. Anyone with experience in CA eviction laws have any thoughts?

Foley is a hypocrit for being on the Children's Caucus and sending sexual innuendos to pages. Is that a larger offense then actually having physical relations with them?
