Politicians don't care about their constituents except for the two weeks before elections.

Once they arrive in Washington the politicians all become automatons, voting the way their party tells them. They cease to care about their constituents, they focus on crafting designer legislation to appease the corporations, lobbyists and special interests that donated to the national party committee.

(There may be a very few exceptions, but they are so rare they represent a statistical anomaly.)

Politicians have staff who read the constituents views. The staff looks out for the politicians well being. The staff is trusted to make the politician aware of views, trends, and the like that is beneficial or harmful to the boss. It is up to the politician to make the staff aware of his or her concerns. Most politicians are concerned about keeping office and making additional money out of their position.

Politicians may not, but I know some of their staffers do.

However, unless a person is a verified consitutent, a Member of Congress (House or Senate) can't really do anything on their behalf.

That is why rather than ranting on these boards, people should be writing to and calling their elected officials. And make sure to leave your name and address, or your comments are worthless (at least unverifiable).

Take meaningful action - let your elected representatives know who you are and what you think.

Politicians have aides (read: lackeys) to do the grunt work and I'd be shaking my head if I thought any of them were spending any time at all on this "forum"!

This is the biggest collection of losers I've ever come across in one place. I'll bet that of ALL the people that come here not 5% put their money (you know, hard-earned dollars) where their mouths are and that the incidence of regular voting is under one-third.

Doubtful. What's more useful is to sign a petition or write Senators and Representatives (tastefully and eloquently).

well if they do read our Opinions they dont bother doing anything with the information they have read so there would be no point in them reading them in the first place.

What makes you think they are bothered anyway as long as they get their big fat salaries and cars travel etc.

No. They have better things to do than to sift through
"Is my avatar hot?"
"Am I pregnant?" "
What's your favorite sexual position?"
"I just ate my foot. What should I do?"
