I am American and moving to Australia with my ozzie boyfriend. I was wondering the best way to go about getting a visa if I am working. I've heard that it's hard to get sponsorship through a company for a working visa. We aren't engaged, but will be living together. Is a De facto Visa difficult to obtain?

ok ... you can apply for a Spouse Temporary Visa (Subclass 309), as a De Facto Relationship, but I think the rule in australia is that you have to be living together for 2 years or more to be Considered legally 'De Facto' Then! After living in australia for 2 years on the 309, and the relationship is ongoing (i.e ur still living together and/or engaged/married) you can apply for a Subclass 100 Visa (Spouse Permanent Visa) and then after that you can apply for Citizenship/Naturalisation.
