According to the article, a woman posted negative blogs of another woman. The woman who was critisized filed a lawsuit and won, was awarded 11.3 million dollars. The reason she won was because the other woman did not have the means to hire an attourney or pay for anything for that matter. The case was about the negative internet blogs. So what's the moral of the story, that we can't critisize anyone anymore. Why is our country growing to a Nation of Pus.sies?

i always thought there was some kind of freedom in the usa, but nowadays there is so many things which you cannot do.
when you go to europe, there is always a place, where you can
- smoke in the restaurant - drink on the streets - party during entire night in da club or disco
- go to the beach topless - drive a car in "normal" speed, not in the slow motion - no censorship on TV in any way !!!
Im not saying its good, Im just thinking its kinda ironic, such a democratic country (usa), but so many rules you have to obey.
Was it always like this ?
On the other hand, there is plenty of great things in the USA, no doubt about it, but you know.

The president is ready now to overhaul his foreign policy on iraq. The war is costing us troops and cash. He needs a strong exit strategy from Iraq, one that would help us save face but also justify us going in 3 years ago. If you were his personal advisor, what advise would you give the president today? He needs your support.

I understand Evangelical Christians form a united conservative front in the Republican party and are Bush's biggest supporters. From the pulpit, the ministers condemn global warming science stating, more or less, that pollution is God's will. It seems they think that if God wants us to die from pollution we will. If not, God will fix things and man need not do anything about it at all.
They call people who are environmentalist radical left wingers and demonize them. As such, they are backing Bush's dismantling of the EPA. The EPA appears to be the devil's advocate to them. They say business must be able to operate as cheaply as possible and the EPA causes loss of profits for Christian run companies like Exxonmobile.
With over 30 million Evangelical Christians in the USA, this organized group of people is dictating policy in the U.S. How is this different from Muslim's control in the Middle East? People who think God will save us from ourselves are running the country.

after asking a question on how we can accomplish world peace i decided the best answer was "to get involved in whichever organisation you feel will acomplish it (or politics)" so i thought about it and realistically no political party would ever want world peace because they have to much money and power to gain from war.
the omly way i can see a light at the end of the tunnel is by starting one, a worldwide party dedicated to peace with no predjudice against religion colour or creed,
i once heard a saying, "never doubt that a small group of determined every day people can change the world, indeed it's the only thing that ever does" and i believe that hits the proverbial nail on the head.
i guess the first step has to be to get a group of likeminded individuals who also want a world without war and corruption so, watch this space

I've had enough. I'm starting my own political party. It will be called the common sense party. All are welcome to join, it matters not of your colour or race as long as you want to live and work in our wonderful country.
People will practice their religion at home. All churches, mosques, synagogues etc... will no longer be places of worship but turned into hospitals and shelters for the homeless.
There will be no religious dress of any kind.
Prisons will be turned into hard labour camps and there will be more of them.
There will be longer custodial sentences for people who break the law. Community service, open prisons and ASBOS will be abolished, and instead the offenders will do hard labour.
Schools and hospitals would be greater funded. I'm sure nobody would object to a little more tax to cover this.
There will be no political correctness or more to the point there will be no idiotic, middle class, white cretins shouting racist at every given moment.
Who's with me?

BROWNSVILLE — A judge denied bond today to a man accused of bringing his 14-year-old stepdaughter across the Texas-Mexico border illegally to get an education, but instead holding her captive and sexually abusing her.

The girl, who suffered "substantial bodily injury" during her approximate two months in captivity, has been returned to her mother in Matamoros, Mexico, police said.

The girl's mother approached a U.S. Customs officer on Oct. 2 on an international bridge near her home in Matamoros because she was worried that the girl's stepfather wasn't allowing any family to visit her.

The girl was found the next day in a locked trailer in Brownsville. Police issued a warrant for the stepfather, Juan Miguel Medrano, and a tip led them to a relative's trailer home late Saturday where he was found hiding in a closet.

Magistrate Phil Bellamy denied bond for Medrano, a U.S. citizen, today.

The girl, who is not being identified because she is a juvenile victim of sexual abuse, told detectives she had moved in with Medrano about six months ago but had been kept in the trailer, sometimes with her ankle chained, for about the past two months, arrest affidavits show.

She said Medrano sexually abused her and sometimes got her drunk. She said she once woke up bound to a bed by her wrist and ankles, unsure whether she'd been abused. The detectives said they found evidence of bondage and of "substantial bodily injury" due to sexual assault.

Brownsville police Lt. James Paschall said the girl required medical treatment but that he could not comment further.

The girl had crossed the border illegally from Matamoros, Mexico, across the Rio Grande from Brownsville, and was to live with Medrano while she attended school in Brownsville.

Police told the Brownsville Herald she was found in the trailer "delirious and not in her right mind."

The girl was housed briefly in a women's shelter before being returned to her mother in Mexico. It was unclear whether her mother still was married to Medrano.

Officials were trying to get her asylum to return to Brownsville as a crime victim during the investigation, Paschall said.

Medrano is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, unlawful restraint and endangerment, and child abandonment.

Aggravated sexual assault of a child, the most serious charge, is punishable by five to 99 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Illegal immigrants are especially vulnerable to sexual assault and domestic violence, said Meredith Linsky, an attorney with the South Texas Pro Bono Asylum and Representation Project.

"We certainly see a lot of sexual abuse and domestic violence perpetrated, " she said. "It's important that this come to light for the public safety as well as the humanitarian aspect of these young and often defenseless victims
