I understand Evangelical Christians form a united conservative front in the Republican party and are Bush's biggest supporters. From the pulpit, the ministers condemn global warming science stating, more or less, that pollution is God's will. It seems they think that if God wants us to die from pollution we will. If not, God will fix things and man need not do anything about it at all.
They call people who are environmentalist radical left wingers and demonize them. As such, they are backing Bush's dismantling of the EPA. The EPA appears to be the devil's advocate to them. They say business must be able to operate as cheaply as possible and the EPA causes loss of profits for Christian run companies like Exxonmobile.
With over 30 million Evangelical Christians in the USA, this organized group of people is dictating policy in the U.S. How is this different from Muslim's control in the Middle East? People who think God will save us from ourselves are running the country.

Yes, people have the right to their opinion. But dismantling the EPA is foolish. Global warming may be questionable but trashing the enviornment is insane.
I remember well the effects of acid rain in the 70s. I don't want to see a return to that again.

They can eliminate welfare altogether and not tax the rich one penny for all I care. But killing the EPA, that I will not tolerate.

From the responses so far, it sounds as though Evangelical Christians are not backing the dismantling of the EPA. This was a report on TV last nite. I couldn't believe it when I watched it and thought it was BS.
Thank goodness by the response most of you think the report was untrue as well.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I have never heard a minister say anything like that. Where did you go to church? Who told you that crap? There may be some extreme right wing conservatives stating something along those lines, but they are no different from the crap that the extreme left wing liberals spout. They are both idiots. Most Christians are not happy about Global Warming, and most would like to see an investigation into Exxon themselves. Get into the real world and stop listening to what ever professor your talking to. They also have no concept of the real world as they have never worked or lived outside the enclosed campus community they work in.
Is there anything more Naive than someone who gets their info from a professional student?

There is no difference. Religous zelots exist in all religions
here in the United States as well. Remember the so called Christians that were attacking abortion clinics and their patrons ?
We, Americans live in the biggest glass house in the world and we are throwing bricks at the rest of the world.

If you have disagreements, why don't you address the substance of the issues you disagree with rather than focus on the affiliation of the people with those positions?

Everyone has a right to an opinion, and to participate. I think people get too hung up on who is speaking, rather than what is being said.

Just a polite suggestion. There are liberal Christian groups in politics too.

PS I'm not sure you have your facts right, either. Do you have sources? Thanks.

Not all Christians, and people of faith, are Republicans. I know plenty of Democratic believers too.

Dismanteling the EPA is a terrible idea. The EPA has help safeguard the enviroment, and has created many standards that people take for granted.
