The national debt is beyond belief! The war increases it daily, if it doesnt stop soon, taxes will be raised but even that won't catch up to the intrest alone on the debt! Yes unless we pull out quickly it will bankrupt the government

Where have you been? Our economy is at an all time high. Unemployment is at 4.5%, the stock market is soaring, we are three years ahead of schedule in eliminating the national debt. We are fiscally sound. Do your research.

I don't know if you work or work for minimum wage but if you do, the Dems might help you but don't ever plan on getting ahead. You will be kept in your place, dependent on the government.

It will be interesting to watch - if you watch and listen with an open mind and intelligently.

I'm amazed at the number of people that answered this question totally oblivious to the state of our economy. It is excellent right now and the national debt which increased yearly until we had a Republican Congress (giving Clinton credit) that it was paid off.

Yes, Bush should have vetoed more pork-barrel spending but the Dem representatives sure got their share.

Do we really want to pay for more illegals, more welfare for people who will not work, continue the cycle of welfare mothers, children with abandoned fathers that we all must support for 18 years as well as their offspring.

USA is supposed to be where you can realize your dreams with hard work and responsibillity but for the past 50 years we have rewarded and propagated irresponsibility.

Neither. The juxtaposition you pose demonstrates a clear lack of understanding. We can afford the war in Iraq without even a modest burden on the economy. What we can't afford is for the radical extremists to shut down Wall Street for another week (via an attack similar to Sept 11, 2001) or for the weak knee'd anti-war movement to succeed in convincing a quorum of Americans that the war on terrorism is not worth the effort.

Stop with the seditious activity and get behind our troops!

Yep, those would be the choices.

Bush tries to trumpet his 'accomplishment' in cutting the deficit in half - but his starting point was a estimate which never came to pass. The last 4 years are record highs for deficit spending.

Bush doesn't want to raise taxes, that is bad for electing Republicans. He would rather see us deeper in debt.
