The elected government has the responsibility to look after our society. Charities eleviate that responibility. Why should abused children, the blind, etc depend on donations. The needy are being let down by the government that is supposed to protect them. Cash donations is not the answer.

She was caught selling drugs to an undercover cop & is going to jail for 6 months. We wanted to take him with us ( hopefully for good ) Child protective svc. is involved. We have been waiting to hear from them. Well , we did today. Because the boy ( who's 14 & wouldn't say anything bad about his mother because they questioned him in front of her) was not with her when she sold the drugs, she's still a fit mother & will regain custody when she gets out of jail. While she is in there, she has asked her brother to take him. ( He is a dope smoker, among other things ) Child Protection said we have to have her permission to take him. ( she already said no cuz she knows we'll file for custody) Is there anything we can do? We really need to get this kid out of that enviornment. Thanks for any help. We have been together 9 yrs. & have 2 other children.

I know I learned about this in business school. It's a law related to antitrust that disallows "tying" food purchases to theater ticket purchases but I can't find it anywhere online!

Please tell me if I am wrong or if you know the name of the act or law. Thanks

Mexican/Texas Border- do we really need a fence?
I feel we need federal reforms to process the people for "work" or personal reasons. I feel that all foreign guests or resident needs to submit upon entry photos, fingerprints, DNA sample need to be entered into a international data base. Criminals or criminal actions be detained on the spot and assets seized-American or foreign. How do you feel? Native Texan- I love Mexico-they are not the issue-its the others that would "use" them.

Does anyone think that N.Korea may launch a nuclear warhead on a missile against the US?
Does anyone think that Japan doesn't have the ability to take out any incoming missile that threatens it?
Is S.Korea without defences against attack? OK they may be at very short notice.
Finally is Geaorge Dubya overstating the whole thing?

Why do liberals cry "free speech" and then try to supress free speech so much. For instance, the episode at Columbia University where mob of students(a socialist club on campus) rushed the stage and prevented the Minutemen spokesperson(invited guest) from sharing their views. When asked about it the protestors said that they were justified because the minutemen's position was not legitimate.(I guess freedom of speech has to be approved through them)

Assuming that the Columbia students had a right to do what they did, then why was a protestor at Barbara Streisand's concert met with expletives when he essentially did the same thing as these students. He heckled her as she did a skit mocking George Bush.

A third example is the lawsuit against two talk radio hosts in Seatlle for sharing their views on a peice of Washington state legislation that would increase gas taxes. The liberal government has gone after them and is trying to make it illegal to speak their minds.

I didn't make myself clear last time, I need to know
1) when crossing the border, they enter my plate number, then what comes up ? the make/year of the veichle?
2) when I give them my drivers license, what comes up on their computer ?
3) Do they have to look a little further other than a just a cursory look at my id to see that I have an old warrant. ?

If those who rant and rave about poverty were to contribute the money they spend on taking control of the country on creating jobs for those below poverty level wouldn't that solve the issue?

Maybe they realize there is no payback for solving poverty but there is for taking control of our country? Ask these people to donate their money to this issue rather than politics.

Unions, lawyers and lobbyists have given over $567M to democrat politicians. If they had just divided that up amonst those below poverty level it would be more help than buying elections.

People like Soros and Peter Lewis have given over $200M to buy elections, all to dems.

That is almost a BILLION dollars given to dem politicians, all so they can get control of our country. Why not give that money to charity where it would be put to a better use. I thought these people were all about helping others but it seems they are hypocritical, that they want to help themselves, to take control of our country.

From what I can tell, the only people making money off of this are the drug & insurance companies. The elderly have worked their whole lives contributing to SSI only to have their benefits reduced if not cut. People who are struggling to make ends meet also have to pay ridiculous amounts of money for this plan and it does not cover much. I would love to hear from everyone about this, but espicially Republicans, do you think this is a good or bad idea? For all the smart ***** out there, you're all going to be old one day. What do you think?
