President Bush doesn't present himself as in charge of the planet, just the US. He regularly states that other countries are free to make their own decisions. If those decisions pose a threat to the US, they must live with our response.

I don't think any US presidents in the last 100 years were bi-lingual, except for President Bush, who speaks English and Spanish. And he's a great president.

No, not really.
Bilingualism hardly equates to superior intellect. There are just too many multi-lingual people who are really dull.
Besides, English IS the lingua franca of today. Everyone knows this.
People should learn another language and such, but it is by no means a barometer of intellect. It may even be an impediment-unable to master one language, and one's thoughts.

Most Americans know only English. In Bush's case, he couldn't care less, but this is one fault I don't take as a detraction from him (he has plenty else on which we can all detract).

doesn't necessarily follow, however if he came across as an intellectual it would be a start. some of the phrases he uses and his mannerisms show him to be incapable of unscripted ad lib , without `putting his foot in it`

George Bush speaks Spanish, which is irrelevant to his job anyway. As you know, Clinton, Reagan, Carter and Nixon all were monolingual, so what is your point?

Bush is incapable of vaguely understanding anything.

English and common sense have likewise eluded him.
He is the perfect blend of ignorance and arrogance.
