President Bush's low approval ratings, the sharp divisions over the war in Iraq, dissatisfaction with Congress, GOP raising the deficit to RECORD levels, Iraq war costing taxpayers BILLIONS, economic anxiety caused by high gasoline prices and stagnant wages have alienated independent voters.

Even the Republicans running are staying the heck away from President Cheney & Bush & DON'T want Cheney/Bush to show up at their fundraisers. Are they scared of the American voters this time around?

Take this into account. There are many, many people in this country that cannot afford healthcare insurance.

Also many people in this country who cannot get work or maintain work due to poor health who cannot afford the surgeries or medications in order to maintain health.

The cost of healthcare is rising faster than inflation. (go to www.bls.gov) for these stats.

Finally, take into account that Canada has no national debt, and has nationalized healthcare. They also won a Toyota plant over the U.S, primarily because Toyota would not have to pay for pensions, or healthcare insurance in Canada.

More and more companies (GM and Delphi for starters) are reducing healthcare coverage for their employees and retirees due to the rising costs of healthcare.

So, are we making the right decision on not having some form of nationalized healthcare available here in the U.S.?

it is simple.People immigrate because wherever they are at they do not want to be. My problem is that many immigrants say they love the countries they left. Can you love a place you did not want to live in?The german chancelor and many politicians in america spoke about teaching a national culture.A prerequisite to being a nation state is that all within have a singular culture?
Should countries all over the world force immigrants to make a decision to learn the culture of the country they are coming to and be given true citizenship and if they want to still have the culture of their prior country(flag, language, history, holiday) they should be perceived as foreign citizens who live within the state.
restate, immigrants who deny the culture of their previous country can be a citizen with legal action if they adopt any aspect of their previous culture. While immigrants who want to keep their previous culture can't be citizens and have to live in zones. civil rights is an issue. questions?

Not the people just the country.Since we tell everyone what to do anyone the US should just say ok no more Israel you guys are the real murdering terrorists. You guys killed hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and stole their land and are religious fanatics much like in Iran so you go bye bye. Just completely give the land back to the Palestinians and let the Palestinians do to the Israelis what the Israelis did to them. Five minutes to leave their homes at gunpoint.Just get rid of Israel and alot of problems would go away. Again I dont mean to kill the Jews, just get rid of the country, they can go live in Mexico or something

If you check the chart showing the leading causes of death in 2003 (really interesting reading, actually) at http://webapp.cdc.gov/sasweb/ncipc/leadcaus10.html) you will find that 17 of the top 20 are health related.

The total number of disease related deaths in 2003 was about 1,868,000.

The total federal spending on health care (including that giant, Medicare) was about $490,592,000,000. That works out to about $262,000 per death.

At the same time, our military spending was about $615,000,000,000/year (not all is directed at terrorism, but not all medical spending is devoted to curing disease either).

We have lost about 1000 people/year to terrorism (an extremely high estimate).

So that means we're spending about $615,000,000 per death (615 million!), or about three-hundred-thousand percent of what we pay per medical death.

Should we continue to spend with this balance, or would it make more sense to devote more to health care and less to the military?

I believe we should. But before we do that, we must raze the cities of Mecca and Medina to the ground because those are Satan's holy cities. Satan (also known as Allah) seduced Muhammad who then started the Satanic death cult known as Islam.

This is just something to ponder and give you say on. But think about it seriously. People are always say how bad war is and why can't people just get along. Everybody be Good. Right? Well the way I see it war is Good against evil. We started this war because evil was done to our Good country. Well you can't have a good without an evil right? So you'll always have war because you will always have Good and evil. You can't put them together but yet you can't have one without the other. See what i'm saying.
