It would be up to the states to decide, right?

The way it is interpreted now is far broader than the original intent of the judges who voted on it.

stephaniemar...are you insane? I'm simply curious to know how many people know the truth, that's why I asked the question. Even before Roe, very few states outlawed abortion.

Abortion laws would be up to the states. There would be a patchwork of laws, with some states restricting it a lot, and others basically following Roe v. Wade.

Yes, people know what would really happen if Roe v. Wade was overturned. The reason we know is because Roe v. Wade altered the laws in this country. If it were overturned we would return to the same situation as before the decision was made.
Abortion was illegal. It continued to be provided illegally, and without proper medical safeguards. Not only were fetuses aborted but women were killed by the procedure. The wealthy simply traveled to another country to get it safely. It is the poor that suffered.
The history of outlawing alcohol, abortion, homosexual sex, inter-racial dating, and many other such actions has shown that it does not eliminate the act. It simply makes the act more expensive and dangerous.

Well, we have millions of dysfunctional families right now in America with abortion legal. If you overturn Roe v. Wade we then not only would have a bunch of families trying to get on the show Cops, we would have unwanted children growing up just like them. And you know Republicans are against taxes, so there wouldn't be any federal money available to help all these neglected kids. It's not the people that want or can have kids that have abortions, it's the people that can't provide or don't want the kids after they become pregnant. The Republicans never come up with a plan if Roe v Wade is overturned....they just want it like their Iraq war. They'll be screaming to the Democrats to come up with a plan. WATCH!!!!

If Roe v Wade have been overturned, abortion in this united states might lower back develop into unlawful. The rather undesirable element approximately unlawful abortions is that any it is easy to assert they could carry out an abortion and ladies human beings might lower back be butchered on kitchen tables in undesirable neighborhoods. I bear in concepts the days in the previous abortion grew to become into criminal; women human beings have been killed and/or butchered all just to not could desire to have a touch one. i detect it unacceptable that adult adult males make the guidelines that govern an extremely own decision that purely a pregnant woman could make. Abortion would not have ever been suitable for me, yet i believe a woman has the suited to make that decision and government should not be in touch in this. The Evangelicals have made this considered one of those enormous deal. i detect it reprehensible that the extremists on the some distance suitable who're calling abortion homicide pass out and homicide human beings while they have blown up abortion clinics. it is only dazzling to commit homicide to protest the "homicide" of a fetus. There are crazies on the two the fringe left and suitable and that all of them scare me, exceedingly with the abortion difficulty.

The right to abortion would be taken away and over turned in the red states, and the blue states would keep. Girls all over the country would die from botched abortions. There would be too many people having kids and then killing it when its born because they dont want it. There would be more people on welfare because who is going to take care of those kids. And we basically would be turning over even more of our rights, to appease the christian right. You cant rule this country by religion it doesnt work that way. If you have a problem with abortion dont get one! But who are you to ever judge another person for their personal decision, who died and made you God? Seriously what gives any person who is against abortion the right to judge another person, you all need to shut up get over it and read your Bible again

The right to access abortion would be a state-by-state issue. Some states would outlaw abortion, and others would allow it. Women seeking abortion would have to travel from state-to-state if they lived in a state where it was outlawed.

All abortion would be stopped!
If anyone believes that, they're living in Cloud Cuckoo Land.
There is NO political solution to abortion. Pass as many laws as you want, but women will just get illegal ones, maybe backalley jobs, or they'll cross the border into Canada for the procedure. (Then they'll have to ban women from leaving the country!)

Abortion will become illegal again.
Doctors will be prosecuted and go to jail for aborting.
Women will die because of bungled amateurish abortions.
Women's groups will start protesting again and demand for a reversal of the reversal.
Fundamentalists will have won a significant symbolic victory, which will translate itself into more political power. They will feel justified to go after more of our society's hard won freedoms, and all "in the name of God".
etc. etc.
In short, America will find itself thrown back to the Middle Ages.
