If you check the chart showing the leading causes of death in 2003 (really interesting reading, actually) at http://webapp.cdc.gov/sasweb/ncipc/leadcaus10.html) you will find that 17 of the top 20 are health related.
The total number of disease related deaths in 2003 was about 1,868,000.
The total federal spending on health care (including that giant, Medicare) was about $490,592,000,000. That works out to about $262,000 per death.
At the same time, our military spending was about $615,000,000,000/year (not all is directed at terrorism, but not all medical spending is devoted to curing disease either).
We have lost about 1000 people/year to terrorism (an extremely high estimate).
So that means we're spending about $615,000,000 per death (615 million!), or about three-hundred-thousand percent of what we pay per medical death.
Should we continue to spend with this balance, or would it make more sense to devote more to health care and less to the military?

As someone who is considered a SENIOR CITIZEN , I must disagree .
Everybody dies sooner or later and the longer you live the more you spend in Health Care, that's a given , the body wears out .
As a volenteer EMTA ,I spent a lot of time in emergency rooms .
Sometimes it was so busy ,EMTA's were doing the triage , so the nurses could do other things .
I'll tell you this , a snotty nose on a kid is not an emergency , a finger you cut , 12 hrs before , is not an emergency , ect.
Things that should have been seen by the family doctor , are all too often in the E.R.
And then , they B-tch because they are asked to wait while real emergencies are handled .
All to many of these people were carrying government issued Health cards , welfare , medicaid , medicare , ect .
Nationalised Health Care would make it worse and more expensive .
If it's FREE , take all you can , needed or not ..
You want to see efficient medical care , go to a military hospital E.R. , Bring in your kids snotty nose , you'll be seen and you may get to explain it to your CO .
ALL THE " GIVE ME PROGRAMS " mean nothing if you are conquered and live in a slavepen .
By the way , most of the advancements in trauma care in the last century were developed by the military .

You are absolutely right and the US Government spending priorities are all wrong.
Why should, for instance, residents of New Orleans lose their homes not to be replaced and native residents of Israel( this means the Palestininians) also lose their homes, and be displaced and bombed in Gaza, West Bank and what was South Lebanon, while Israel, with US money, has fancy homes with swimming pools, fancy bomb shelters and a murderous military paid for by US tax-payers.
Who is the good samaritan and who is the robber?

I looks to me as if the dollars spent on "preventative medicine" for the terrorists must be money well spent. In fact it seems to be a much more valid investment that health related "preventative medicine" because that seems to not work at all.

I even have generic others in comparable circumstances. i grew to become into rather blessed in my divorce using fact I also have a bishop who is familiar with all of that. I want all bishop could have the information that he does, those issues would not exist. My ex tried in charge his undesirable habit on me, in spite of the shown fact that it did not artwork. I in spite of the shown fact that, have no babies. My maximum suitable suggestion to you is, as difficult because it is, end demanding approximately him. he gets his only reward if he has not already. study the words of the Brethren and you will see that they don't placed the blame on you. it is only too undesirable that your community leaders and fellow ward contributors do not take their lead from the flaws mentioned customarily convention, your life may be lots greater ordinary. yet you could not administration the movements of persons- you could purely administration you. proceed to be honest and say your prayers. in case you pass inactive and fall away using fact of him, then you certainly are allowing his movements to regulate your life and he wins. end allowing him to have that lots administration of your life. Now as for them dealing with them temple right this is the silver lining interior the completed element- You get to place your 2 cents in. they'll could desire to get a letter from you the place you state the justifications for the divorce, if he's present day on toddler help and your thoughts approximately them being sealed. i think of you you nonetheless be lively and not bitter, your letter will carry greater clout. the alternative to notwithstanding if or not they could be sealed isn't as much as the community leaders- the approval has to come back from the 1st Presidency. My ex has tried to get clearance to be sealed to his new spouse, and that i'm interior the approach of having a sealing cancelation so as that i'm able to get remarried. I even have been on the two ends of that technique. sturdy success and bear in concepts- the Lord is often there for you, even while it feels as though no person else is. Edit** somebody else pronounced to get unsealed- regrettably (your bishop probable advised you) it is in no way finished until eventually you have a sealing to interchange it. using fact of his options you heavily isn't required to spend eternity with him. yet you like the sealing to acquire the utmost area of the celestial kingdom- so as that they gained't wreck it until eventually you could replace it.

The Bush administration is totally and absolutely corrupt, having stolen the contents of the Treasury by way of tax cuts for their wealthy cronies. Then borrowed more from China to pursue the Iraq war.
