After reading several different posts, i cant help but notice the inherently violent nature of some peoples responses. Calls to 'Nuke Iran, Burn the place to the ground, Glass Them' etc are all gettign rather worrying.
Do you people seriously know what your saying? You have no qualms of dropping Nuclear Fission Warheads on an innocent population, when it is their Government we dont like?
The casualties would be in the Millions, it would dwarf Stalins Purges and Hitler Holocaust. My question is simply, do you seriously mean this? In the event of a Nuclear strike against Iran, you would support your government?

He is our leader but still he does not have absolute power like everyone thinks. I feel that our high schools and colleges have not educated the majority of people.

I hope Bush does not treat it like Iraq, and give them more time, they had all the time in the world to hide stuff.

A few businesses in my state have signs posted which keep people, who can legal carry a concealed weapon, from bringing their firearm into that business.

Where do you feel safer?

A business which allows legally armed citizens to carry their weapons or one where only criminals will have the weapons.

I've been emailing the white house and the vice president of the United States to get some anwsers about the war in Iraq. But all I get is a autoreply. I know that they must get a million plus emails a day. I feel like the government of the U.S. will listen to a large corporation more than it will its own people.

After environmental destruction, widespread disease, and all out war I give it 500 years. Quite possibly less. Maybe Marx's idea will win by default. And get your idea of Soviet style communism out of your mind before you respond. I am referring to pure Marxist ideology where the state fades away. Small functional communes. Not the totalitarian mess that existed in the Soviet Union. That was not communism. That was a totalitarianism state. And the models that followed suit were also totalitarian states. I am talking Das Kapital here pure and simple. Talk ideology with me. Not rhetoric. I am an old political science graduate (international relations/ political philosophy) from the University of Wisconsin. If you are not politically educated please do not answer. I don't want sound bites from Rush Limbaugh. And I don't want to hear about how successful you became from a real estate scam ("you can do it too!!!" haha). I want a true discussion on political philosophy.

in their stead use drones to fight wars. we have had the technology to do so since the 50s. yet, still we fight them with our sons and daughters. there was a time when we fought in lines allowing our enemy to see us, and shoot 1st. only then would we return fire. to do otherwise "was cowardly acts". same as injuns hiding behind trees were perceived to be. til we used their expert advice in wwII. their cowardly ways, became our "special ops team tactics" to win! isnt it time we stop dying for a fight? i am a US ARMY veteran, we wouldnt loose our ppl, our strength, or our pride to serve & protect. we would protect those lives who choose to serve! knowing this, our enemies would be reluctant to engage. which is the primary goal of all miltia, prevention by mere presence a show of force

Beyond strictly defense and aggression, how does having a military affect the culture, the attitudes and the beliefs of a society? On a societal level, how does the military fit in with the rest of the culture?

"They wonder, why do we fight? My answer is, if we were to stop fighting, you would soon find out."

Can liberals just accept that the world is a dangerous place and is better off for the United States? People were being sadistically tortured by Saddam Hussein until we stepped in. Syria recently gave up on its nuclear program. There have been no major attacks against the US in the last four and a half years. Al Qaeda has been nearly broken, and Zarqawi is dead. Africa is getting billions in foreign aid from to combat the HIV virus.

I believe that we do more good than harm. Do liberals agree that in the long run, the world is better for the US? Is it even possible?
