hmm...that is a good question...turn the tables...very good logic there (ps: i'm being serious for once)
However the reason is that the US is blamed for virtually every problem in the world, so we shouldn't go about starting more. We have to be careful, because with a lot of the world hating us, we can't just go bombing. You see, the vast majority in this world can't seem to make that logical jump that you just made...they simply think the US is always wrong and see NK as the oppressed country that is being "noble"
i wish i could give points for an amazing question, but i can't...so here's 500 cool points...not yahoo points, but just as cool.

The reason we aren't getting upset is because the missiles took off and then fizzled. Yes it was stupid of them to do it and yes the world needs to tell them what to do.
I'd say just cut off their exports, no longer accepting them will cause them to lose in the long run.
Also, you have to take into consideration that their leader is a little insane. We're just waiting for him to die. There is also the other consideration, is it wiser to go after Korea or go after Iran who in the long run is far scarier (ie. 1980's & all the airline hijacks and hostages).
No matter how unscary China is now, it doesn't mean they can't be scary. They have an army that is larger than any other country, if they decided to take over another country it wouldn't be pretty, they could wipe out another nation if they wanted to. The only reason they don't is because they signed an accord stating that they would not - b/c they didn't want to lose the support all the larger nations give them.

I think the world already knows our capabilities. And isn't that some of the problem?
The rest of the world wants, and thinks, that they should have the same. To them, it makes perfect sense. This country, of course, doesn't like it when other nations try to develop their capability to destroy us, as we are able to do to them.
That's what the "Cold War" with the former Soviet Union was all about....with each side continuously building bigger and better weapons, to stay on an even keel with the other side.
In a strange way, it did serve a purpose, though. Neither side attacked the other, knowing it would also be destroyed if it did.
If one gives it any deep thought, could it possibly be that if every nation had those capabilities, that might be what finally brings so-called "world peace"? Unless one can find a nation where every citizen is hell-bent on suicide.
But, maybe, now, I'm living in a "fool's paradise".

"The best form of defence is attack"!! I cant remember where I read that, but it certainly is not true!
does any one remember the 'Cuban missile crisis'? that was a pretty close encounter don't you think?
What do you think would be gained by slinging a few unarmed missiles in the area of Korea??
One of the reasons would be to let the Korean people know their experiments were not appreciated!! The other reason would be to 'fire a warning shot across the bows' of the Korean government.
The Korean people would never be told what had happened, (who is going to tell them)? or they would be told about 'imperial aggression' on their door step! Whatever, the Korean people are not going to rally against their goverment.
The Korean goverment wouldnt give a sh** in fact they would probably look upon it as a form of compliment.
So I dont think your suggestion is one to further world peace do you?
However its good to get it off your chest isnt it?
I havent a clue as to how the situation can be resolved, and although some have commented here that the missiles 'fizzled out' it will only take a few more practise runs before they dont fizzle out.
The Koreans obviously know the west could swamp them with missiles, that isnt putting them off much is it?
A suicide bomber knows he is going to be blown to bits, thats not putting him off is it?
Please tell me you are never going to apply for a post in the Diplomatic corps!!!

The UK has tested hundeds of missile, often with very little regard for where they landed or who was there at the time.
North Korea is a great little place. If they want to test a few missiles good luck to them.

America make such a fuss. IT WAS A TEST! Dont people remember France doing this a few years ago? And it isnt like america dont have weapons of md.
With americas track record of "shoot first, ask questions later", I dont blame them for wanting to show they have weapons of their own. America arent the only ones allowed to have them, they are such hypocrites.
Obviously it would be best if there were no nuclear weapons, but thats never going to happen now is it.

uhhum.
If you are either British or Amrican (god forbid) then your country has been continuously testing significantly more dangerous weapons right off the coast of many foreign countries for decades, and nobody has said squat about it.
That does not give you the right to stop others doing the same thing, bloody hypocrite.
If an asshole like yourself really was in power and really did do that, we'd have war on our hands.
Down to the power crazy fascits like yourself, let others live their lives in peace until they threathen you personally.

Korea is such a joke. They can't even feed themselves, and they've devoted themselves to becoming a nuclear power.
Having China and Russia refusing to confront them is just making things worse. Don't those two countries understand just how dangerous it is to ignore the Korea threat?

I don't wholly disagree with you. And if we were smart, we would have been doing something about this nutjob a long time ago, because he is an ACTUAL threat to the world and to American interests, unlike another despot that we've spent 2500 American lives, more than 100,000 Iraqi civilian lives, and more than $600 Billion dollars to depose.

Makes us comparable to the knuckle head leader of the N. Korea. We need to play the big brother role and deal with the issue with patience.
