The only way communism will work in the future is if we have robots to do our work and computers to do our thinking.
At that point it won't matter much as far as to what economic system we have in place since technology will have taken over economics and the only difference between economic systems will be who gets what.
But having communism in such a fashion where humans are involved in doing the work is destructive. Human nature enjoys pleasure and avoids pain(work). The best way to get a human to endure pain/work is to reward them with pleasure.
Under a communist system, each individual is rewarded with the same amount of pleasure no matter how much pain/work they put in. So with human nature, a human will tend toward doing no work under such a system.
The only way for a communist system to work with humans is to bring even more pain to an individual for lack of a community's expected pain/work per individual.
I think it would be better if the state faded away and allow for small communities with their own ideologies and beliefs to survive with people given the choice of moving to those communities in which they believe in whether it's a communist/facist/libertarian/theocratic community, but it is the nature of the state to grow, so without a revolution it will never cease to exist.

The population of our world by small scale communes can only happen after the annihilation of all civilized society. ie: After a global nuclear war. In case your not aware of it we have already started in small scale communes. We are where we are now due to natural progression. Why? Because humans are, by nature, are possessive of themselves, their property, and territory. What happens is this: You have a nice happy commune. Lots of them. All over the place. Within these communes there must be order so there have to be certain rules of conduct. The people cannot all make rules for their general community because conflicting opinions would cause unrest amongst themselves and that is the antithesis of their goal. Groups of people can rarely agree on ANYTHING. And so they must have a way to to resolve these issues, be it a person or persons or a "Magic Eight Ball" which gives random answers. People have a tendancy to want to make things easier on themselves. One way of doing this is to let some one else make all those pesky day-to-day decisions. Hence, either elected or implied, a leadership will emerge from the group. Here's the good part. Believe it or not, people are GREEDY. And the leadership, liking this power, however small, might say, "Wow. We have such a nice community. I bet that village down the road would like to be a part of us. Let's send some of our boys over there to show them how much better it is over here than over there". And that's how it starts. The closest we can come to a communal society and have any success is a democracy. People in general are like cattle. They have to be led. And those that lead sometimes abuse their power.Being at the top of the food chain is testament to the innate nature of humankind. We get what we want even if it means killing our neighbor to get it. If we can't do it we will get someone or something to do it for us. We get what we want and what we want is MORE.

The universe isn't something yet a spacetime continuum the place time can't be separated from the three dimensions of area: so that they (they universe) ought to have come into life mutually on an identical 2d. sure, all of us understand that each little thing comes out of not something that all of us understand and for no primary reason. this is like gravity that attracts and make us fall without reason or like organic catastrophe that kills human beings indiscriminately, additionally for no reason. often times whilst strolling, we'd additionally step on an insect or an ant. fairly we've not got a clarification for that, or do we? that's how the universe is: each little thing out of nowhere and for no reason.

I don't believe Marxism is the way to go. From my understanding of it no one would own anything, every one works and are all entitled to the same benefits of their work with in the communes. It's a wonderful utopia but it is not very realistic in my opinion. People are basically greedy and power hungry and some one will ultimately try to take control. eventually the communes will be no more than slave labor.

Don't worry about it so much. Now that every little two bit country is building nuclear weapons it is apparent that we will turn the earth into a radioactive slag heap and nothing will grow anyway. PROBLEM SOLVED.
