What are your favorite rodents? Please go from the ones you like most to the ones you like least and if you can- why?

Here:
~Hamsters
~Mice
~Guinea Pigs
~Gerbils
~Rats
~Degus

If I don't have anything that you like, you may add it to the list.

Thank you very much!

A few days ago I purchased a guinea pig, it is not my first time having one. This guinea pig seems freaked out; she goes through 2 minute phases of running, jumping, squeaking, and bad scratching fits. She does this a couple of times a day. Any ideas? Should I take her to a vet, or could it be something simple?
Thanks.

I have a male rat who is about 4 months old. I spend a great deal of time with him but the entire time he is out with me he is hiding on me somewhere. In my pockets or in the armpit of my sweat shirt. I used to think this was cute but now i think i am contrubuting to his shy behavour. How can i make my rat want to come and sit with me instead of hiding all the time ?? He is very friendly just shy but could that be because of his age ??

My mouse is 2 and a half years old.
Lately I noticed that she has grown a lump on her shoulder?
The lump has a red thing on the top of it.
She has also started to lose her hair, and has a small scab on her back.
Im most worried about the lump.
Is there any way I can help my mouse WITHOUT taking it to a vet? Because we can't really afford to.
Thanks for any help.

We have a pet rat about 1.5 yrs old. Suddenly she stopped sleeping on the upper levels of the cage and she is quite wobbly. She is listless wont scurry around and will not climb up the cage anymore. She is also fluffed up. As for eating she seems to have lost the ability to hold it with her feet although she is trying to eat food from her bowl - we have been feeding her baby food in an eye dropper which she takes well. Also when you pur her on your chest to crawl up it seems as though she has no strength in her legs. She seems quite happy even though she has all these problems. We took her to the vet and he gave her some antibiotics in case there is an underlying infection. She has been on them for 4 days but not much has changed. Do you think it is a stroke? or mayby a brain problem? Do we just keep up this regime and how do you know when its time to put her to sleep? Has anyone cared for a rat like this for an extended time?

Would a cage that's 36 inches long and 18 inches wide be big enough for two female guinea pigs?

Im looking for a name for a mouse. Somthing 'mighty' or sophisticated names like a greek god, a ruler, artists, etc.
I've considered Apollo, Aphrodite, Cleopatra, Picasso, Mozart, and Zeus.
Any other ideas? Or which of the ones i picked is your favorite.

Is this a tos violation and can we do something to get these posters out of this section of the community? I think discussing humane traps or needing help to confront animal cruelty is important and called for but I am very offended by people coming to the rodent section of the pets forum and suggesting that we kill our pets or just rant about how disgusting they are. I doubt these folks would enter the dog or cat sections and make the same comments. Animal cruelty is illegal and I'm not sure why people think it's okay with some animals. They are our pets and I love my pets.

My new rats (eight weeks and six weeks) are learning their names. I break up cherios in small pieces and reward them when they come which is almost all the time except when distracted (Because they are young, they have short attention spans). I do this when they are running around my bathroom floor. How can I train them to come everytime I say their name? How to I "wean" them from treats after they completly come when called? How long did it take your rats to learn their names? What did you do to train them and do they always come when you call them? Thanks.

OK, this is sick. So my neighbors found a wild rabbit that had been hit by a car and its two back legs were broken. The rest of it looked fine; it wasn't bleeding or anything. I thought they should throw it in a bag and hook it up to the exhaust so it could at least get put down sort of humanely, but they insisted that burying it would be the best way. How long before it dies? It's not just going to starve in there painfully, is it?

It seems incredibly stupid to me to bury any still fully conscious creature alive.
