When we 1st got our rabbit she was a little naughty and a bit mad but she has chilled so much and seems loving now but this morning when I was getting ready for work I could hear her throwing her her bowl around her hutch and she did it for ages!! Then when I went to feed her she launched herself at me and bit me on my arm and then again on my finger!! She was obviously not too happy this morning, I fed her at the usual time so im not sure what was wrong with her!! I must say I didn kind of laugh because she also makes a grunting noise which is almost like she is saying leave me alone which I do find quite amusing but do you have any tips for trying to encourage her to not bite me??!!

Thanks!

Well, I'm planning to get two rats (I'm fully aware that rats need company most of the time, and I wouldn't feel happy if I knew my rat was lonely...). Unfortunately, my parents won't let me buy them from breeders... I'm forced to buy them from Petco or Petsmart. So,
1) Petco or Petsmart? (I'm aware that pet stores have many inbreeding, and are sometimes not treated properly.. but I have no choice.)
2) I've already done a pretty good share of research, and I'm still looking for more. Any important facts or suggestions I should know?
3)http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752727&cp=2767038.2769317&pg=4&fbn=Taxonomy%7CHabitats+%26+Cages&fbc=1&clickid=topnav_dropdown6_link6&parentPage=family&keepsr=1#RatingsDetail
Is this a good enough cage?
If not, please recommend a better one, but at either Petco or Petsmart...
As you can see, I'm limited in choices...

We recently got a Syrian hamster because our Dwarf hamster died of unknown causes and she chews through most of the plastic in her cage. I know they like to chew on stuff to wear down their teeth. There are 2 wood chews, and a salt stone in her cage. We are also feeding her the Extrusion all-in-one pellets. She won't chew on the wood chews and as soon as we gave her the salt stone she went straight for the plastic holder instead. Is there anyway to get her to stop chewing the plastic and lean more towards the items we provided for her? I don't want her getting sick from all of the plastic she is consuming.

Ok I have been breeding mice and ran into a problem i never had before...
I have a female mouse that delievered a littler a batch on 10/31 and tonight when I was feeding the mice I noticed that the female looked sick/ paralized. I looked for the litter and they were eattin. I am guessing the other females ate them and she tried to protect them and got hurt in the process.
I know alot of people remove the female and young when they are born but I have never had a problem with this. Why do you think the female is in such bad condition? & do yo think I should kill the female or nurse it back to health?

I took the female out of the cage into a cage by itself for now with food and water... What would you do?

My serian hamster, Q.T., developed a fatty tumor a few months ago. I didn't take her to the vet because I know they can't remove fatty tumors, so I decided not to waste my money on a vet visit, when I already know whats wrong.

Well, the thing has gotten big, SO big. Its about the same size as her head. Its located right between her front arms.

It doesn't cause her any pain, but it does get in the way. She has to walk kind of funny because of it, and she has difficulty getting into her wheel because it gets in the way.

Do you think I should put her to sleep. This thing doubled in size in like 2 weeks, and its just gonna keep getting bigger. If we have her put to sleep, it will be tomorrow. Or, do you think I should wait a while longer

Please, I need advise!

What are some sign that a chinchilla is sick?

For the past week my chin has been squeaking at random times for no reason. They're not squeaks like he's in pain they are just his normal squeaks, but I've never heard him do it repeatedly and randomly like this.

He usually jumps around his cage and lately he's just been eating, drinking, and sitting around. He has also been grinding his teeth.

I have had him for about 2 months. He still does not let me hold him. I can pet his head and scratch his neck and stuff but any farther than that and he freaks out. I can't let him out of his cage because he won't let me touch him so I can't catch him.

She lives alone and has been with us for about 2 yrs. or so. She has been fed a new type of food, but we don't actually get around to feeding her everyday. It took a good amount of time for her to get fat if it is the food. She is lethargic and can barely walk now. We feed her a stick treat sometimes, but she doesn't always finish it. What's the deal!?

Yes, I have total responsiblity for a bunny, and I know what they need. But I have about 25 grids, and would like some ideas for a rabbit cage. The bunny will be medium size when he comes home. If you have a g. pig or a bunny cage, can you take a pic for me? Or if you don't, or you can't or don't wanna take a pic, can you find one of the internet for me? I am getting a bunny tomorrow and must have a cage ready. Thanx!

So i noticed one of my piggies has a bald spot above his leg about the size of a 10pence peice and has crusty blood round the outsides with tiny spots in the middle,
one of his ears has really dry skin with crusty blood on the rim of ear. What do you think it could be?any advice etc much appreciated
The other piggy seems fine although she has a lot of dark fur so is hard to tell...
The pet store said to take them in,if its ringworm they'll treat it BUT its mites I'll have to go to vets & fork out(HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST & WHAT DOES IT ENTAIL?)

Yeah, my guinea pig has some kind of lice or mite or something.. I know because when she started having seizures, I checked her and found her crawling with white things.. But I can't take her to the vet, because my parents are both basically insensitive and unempathetic, and won't take her.. I can't imagine my guinea pig dying from a parasite such as lice!

Is there some kind of non-expensive thing that I could do to get rid of the lice, that's effective, without going to the vet?

Also - she doesn't seem to be not eating like this website said would happen.. And she doesn't have open sores or hair loss, in fact, a LOT of hair.. But I know there's some kind of whitish stuff on her face. By the way, she's been having fits or seizure-like things for like 2 years..

This morning, when giving my mice a treat I noticed one of them looked bad. I took her out and noticed that her anus is blocked by hard feces, about 0.5 cm wide and going inside her for about a cm! I couldn't find a vet who is working today and I don't have any laxatives. I thought I'd bring her to a vet tomorrow.
She grew weaker through the day. At some point her anus must have split at one side, although I don't see any blood. Now she doesn't respond to anything. As a desperate measure, I put her in a tupper with 1.5 cm warm water in the hope this will loosent the feces and I will be able to help them out. Normylly, she'd jump right out of it, but now she doesn't have the strength to do it. I am afraid she'll die soon. What can I do for her, it's 12 hours until the vet opens? Please please help!!!

My puppy Daisy is getting spayed in 2 weeks. I am SO scared something will go wrong during the operation. A local vaccination organization recommends me this place: People For animals in Hillside,NJ. Is it a good place? I can't really switch now, and I need some questions to ask the vet when I go for the consultation. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jamie!
